Eagle's Nest
Amazing amazing amazing! My sister and I went up to this viewpoint one sunrise on a weekend road trip through Wales and I think about it daily. The walk itself was fantastical and beautiful and, with some of the paths being trickier to manoeuvre, a fun challenge to get to the top. The path is well sign posted and you can either do a circular route or backtrack from the viewpoint itself. The ‘Nest’ itself has a stone bench and railings along the front edge. The view is brilliant and worth it and if you have an hour or two spare, you should definitely do this hike.

A must see vista point. We parked in the upper carpark. The walk was about 10mins uphill with quite a rocky terrain but was fine for beginner walkers.

Our walk to the Eagle’s nest starts at the Old Wye Bridge. The whole trail is combined by part of Heritage Trail and part of Wye Valley Walk. We get here at a late dusk, the views are magnificent. The path could be very wet and slippery recently, take care of your steps and stay safe.

Depending on which route you'll choose it can be a walk in the park or sweat dripping back. Well worth it though. Just need to pay attention to the signs as viewing point can be missed amongst the trees.

A bit of a climb, but worthwhile for the views. Can be made part of a lovely walk through the valley.

Wonderful walk in any weather, in any season. There is a short - 25 step - metal ladder up or down which most dogs will need to be carried. There are hundreds (365?) steps winding back and forth up the extremely steep slope. There is an easier route that avoids the steep steps and the ladder but nowhere near as much fun.The views over the Wye valley, the Severn and over to England are simply spectacular. This walk can be combined with a wander along to the Piercefield Woods and the Giants Cave.(These are bizarre additional questions from Google. What kind of odd world do the live in? No, there was no “wait” to get in. There are no “tickets to buy in advance”. These walks are free)The walk was quiet, passing only one other couple on the entire trip.

If you have a dog it’s better to use the Upper car park. It’s a fairly easy walk to the Eagles Nest view point. The views are probably the best in the area. The 365-steps aren’t suitable for dogs but the alternative route around the fields is an easy ramble. Prepare to lift dogs over scissor stiles.

We had a delightful Sunday stroll here in the late afternoon. The serene ambiance and a sparse crowd made it a pleasant experience for everyone. However, those with knee issues might find it challenging. The walk offers two routes to the viewpoint, and I suggest beginning on the left side for an easier ascent and returning via the 365 steps. Clear signage guides the way and a nearby car park adds convenience. The view from the top is truly breathtaking. Highly recommended!
