Went for a meal on a Sunday evening, not over busy and great that they are a dog friendly pub.The menu is a little limited as it was a Sunday, they do Sunday roast which looked very good but we unfortunately did not choose, I had trout this rice and broccoli which was very good, Jack had a burger which was excellent, the wife had fish and chips which was poor, the chips were all hard and undercooked and the fish was well overcooked, not great.Will give it another go in the week as the staff were excellent and the service very good.

Stopped by for refreshments, didn’t try the food, but the bartender was very nice to us. He poured too much beer and it overflew the glass, so he poured is a new one. Thank you!The place is cozy. It was warmer downstairs, and upstairs was a bit chilly but more private.

What a lovely place to sit a while, eat and drink.The staff were friendly, the food was tasty, well presented, good value, homely and delicious.And it was especially good to be catered for safely as we're gluten and dairy free.We only spent 48 hours in Lincoln, we tried a few different establishments and the Wig and Mitre was our stand out favourite. We just kept gravitating back.Thank you very much!Tass and Ian

We called in on Saturday night, it was quiet but the staff were nice and friendly.A nice place for a drink in an old quaint pub.

Been coming here for over 40 years, but less frequently in the last couple of years as the drinks and food have both declined in quality. Choice of 4 real ales, some local, but the wine quality is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The menu is pretty limited, and the food is OK, but really nothing special. The big USP of this place is its unparalleled position at the top of iconic Steep Hill.

What a find !!! Fabulous Sunday lunch. Good choice of dishes. Friendly and very welcoming prompt service even though it was a fairly busy day. Landlord Martin really nice guy. All the staff very accomodating even made us some liqueur coffees. Good range of beers to boot. 5 stars all the way.

Didn't know the place was there walked in with my partner got a lovely welcome by all the staff didn't wait to long for food and it was absolutely amazing would deffo go again and wasn't bad prices either

Thursday evening Steak night. Fabulous Chateaubriand. Followed by in house prepared apple and cinnamon crumble and custard. Cooked beautifully, we had the upper end of the menu price wise but for the quality of the food great value. Friendly service, attentive. Overall a lovely evening, highly recommend.

Stopped for a Sunday lunch and the wig and mitre did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and decor. Food was cooked perfectly, and the drinks were great. We were served by Martin who was very welcoming and a great server. Would definitely reccomend!

Great meal in a very nice pub near the castle and the cathedral. I got Bangers and mash, very nice tasting. Great beer. Nice personal. Nice old place. Can absolutely recomend the place.
