I visited the historic Royal Belfast golf club for the first time last week.I had heard a lot about this parkland course, the oldest club on the island and I wasn't disappointed.Despite a severe thunderstorm and torrential rain for about an hour we enjoyed a great round of golf.We were following a highly competitive matchplay in one of the club competitions and we were struck by the friendliness of the players to us two visitors following behind. But as we'd travelled so far to experience the course we weren't giving up.Clubhouse is a beautiful building and a credit to the members while the pro shop staff were also helpful and friendly. If you haven't had the chance to visit RBGC I can recommend it highly

A good parkland course with a fantastic historic clubhouse. The pro shop is well stocked. The practice range is pretty short and only really suitable for short to mid irons. The practice greens provide consistent challenges. The course itself was exceptionally wet when played but coped very well. The fairways were lush and greens consistent. Most of the holes are, you get what you see so pretty straight forward. However it is a good length course and i would definitely play it again.

The views at Royal Belfast are beautiful. The course was very wet when we played, and the greens had just been aerated, so we didn't play it at it's best. Our caddies were very nice. My main complaint is about our rental clubs. The options for women are abysmal. Having previously played at Lahinch with a brand new set of Taylor Made clubs, the sorry set of Cobras that was at Royal Belfast were a trial. At a very long course, with a driver I could barely hit, I had one 5 wood and one hybrid that were essentially the same loft. So my advice to women is to bring your own clubs. My husband said his rental clubs were okay, not great. The whole setting is worth going to, but not everyone can bring their clubs, so Royal Belfast needs to do better for women. And they need to have a set of more forward tees that are more reasonable for typical older women's distances.

What a way to bring to a close this wonderful trip to Ireland! We started off with sitting on the terrace and enjoyed a couple pints of stout along with some wonderful food. I had the smoked salmon open, and my buddy had a the club sandwich. We then started our round of golf on what I would say ranks right up there with the best I've played, and I've played all over the globe! The greens, fairways and all of the landscape was just incredible, not to mention the back drop with the blue water. We also had a really nice chat with some members and once again very inviting couldnt have felt more welcomed. Lastly the pro shop manager was great had a few laughs with him as well. I absolutely will be back to Ireland and definitely will return to Royal Belfast!

Really nice golf course to play on with some buddies, the green was well looked after. Majority of the staff were pretty nice but what lost a star for me was when I walked into the eating area it only had 1 food safety rating but other then that this is a pretty nice place to play some golf.

Amazing condition for this time of year with the rain we’ve had. Course playing well and the club house and food as expected with a venue with ‘Royal’ in its name. Looking forward to a return visit in the future.
