Initially I was very wary of using a company such as Finder Monkey as you can't be sure that after paying the initial fee, that the service provided will represent value for money. However having read previous reviews, I felt that this company would be my preferred option.Having finally made the personal decision to try and trace my birth mother, I felt quite anxious about making the initial phone call to Finder Monkey, but as soon as I had made this first contact, my call was handled very professionally and the process to start to search was really quick and efficient.I was allocated a researcher called Dave, who became my personal point of contact, and on every occasion that I called or emailed him, his response was always quick and his telephone manner was really good and I found him very supportive and easy to talk to.I was really impressed with how I was kept up to date with the progress and as things unraveled themselves, Dave was always very happy to receive a call from me to go over the findings and help me understand the information in more detail.Although sadly we found that my birth mother had passed away, Dave discovered that I have two half brothers. So with this information, I also opted to use Finder Monkeys intermediary service. Dave set up the initial contact with one of the brothers and then lined up my first telephone contact. Although this first phone call felt very daunting, again Dave talked me through the process, reassured me of the response I was likely to receive and generally used his experience to guide me forward.I have now made this initial contact and will now be able to make future contact independently.For anyone who is not really sure whether to go ahead and invest their trust and money with this company, I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

What you need to understand when you hire this organisation is they do the basics and no more. Everything they do, you could do. I paid them the going rate to find my birth father. They checked off all the basics that had I been in England I could have done myself. This organisation are not professional geaneologists - they're amateurs and not that enthusiastic. I think I paid them nearly NZ$2000. They scurried through a few publicly available records and then had the cheek to tell me if I wanted to continue my search in France they'd need more money. Well for goodness sake - at 200 hundred pounds an hour for what they came up with for me I declined the delve into Europe. They're very well meaning but they're out of their depth and you're paying far more than you would pay a geneologist or even your average PI. On the upside and without any help from them I have found aunts in Australia, a great grand father in America a grand dad in NZ and much more. Still would like to know where my dad is though but I guess 2000 NZ$ wasn't enough for them to make a real effort,

I started using Finder Monkey to find my dad who I had never met. I had tried, for 32years, all other avenues without success writing to various TV programmes, contacting embassies, hospitals, families who I thought may have a connection. He wasn't on my birth certificate, so had no trace.I came upon FinderMonkey and trusted their professional advice and experience. With their determination and patience and with access to DNA and family tree records on various sites they found him! Alive and well during the pandemic. It took a while but they did it.They were great at researching and keeping me upto date when they had information. I found FinderMonkey a pleasure to deal with. They were thoughtful, courteous, thorough in their investigations and kept me up to date during their search. They explained how sensitive and delicate things could be when they found my brother and the different possible ways in which he could react when approached. They also offered counselling to either of us if needed. Within 3 days of a letter being sent out to my brother, he had replied and two days later we were in contact on the telephone. This was my first experience in trying to find out information using his service,I can honestly say I was dealt in a friendly and compassionate way. The team from beginning to end listened as though I was the only person they were dealing with, they explained the whole process and were upfront with the information they could give me and although they found the information i asked for my new found family do not wish to take it further so they have now closed my file but will still be available to me and my new family if needed in the future.

I recently used FinderMonkey to try to find my mum as I was adopted at 2 months old back in 1970.Dave and his team were fantastic. Throughout the whole process Dave handled everything perfectly, taking time to talk me through all aspects of what was to come and monitoring every stage as we proceeded.In my case unfortunately my Mum had died 11 years previously, Dave talked me through this well. He then made contact with my sister, who I had never met and in a very short time I was in contact with her. Used finder monkey to help me find my sister. They was really good and communicated well up until they had the final payment (as its done in installments), cost me £1500. Would of been money well spent if they had of found her however they was sending letters to the wrong address, telling us she had refused to sign, led us to believe she lived on her own, stop communicating telling me they was busy. In the end of found my sister myself on a contact register and found out she lives with her fiance and that she hadn't received no letters of them and hadn't lived at the address they was using for at least 2 years. They told me they was 99.9% sure to find her. I don't think so!!
