I have just finished the Andy Rouse Wildlife course. All I can say is Brilliant!.I can honestly say its one of the best photography courses I have done. Andy is so knowledgeable and experienced yet he is so down to earth and has a great personality. He conveys his passion not only for the photography but also his respect for the wildlife he is imaging.Great course, very informative, really enjoyed it.

After reviewing numerous online photographic courses and reading their customer reviews, I settled on ‘The School of Photography’ (TSOP). It’s always difficult making a decision about such things as you don't want to feel ‘ripped off’ after spending a lot of money on a new adventure that you will invest a lot of time in but never the less, I went ahead and subscribed to TSOP which given what I know now the cost is very reasonable.TSOP was created by Marc Newton who features not only as an instructor but as a guide and mentor. Marc’s teaching style for me is very engaging, he is ‘down to earth’ he talks to you not at you.Marc encourages you to get out there and experiment with your camera, getting to know what it will do as photos rarely turn out want you want them to be first time you click that shutter. When you open the first page of the course you are initially presented with the ‘Beginners Photography Course’ which is a very good introduction into the basics of photography, i.e. getting to know your camera, understanding aperture, ISO and shutter speed and numerous other topics. Marc presents all this information not only in his video presentations but the course also provides a ‘Task Sheet’ which details all what you find in the videos.Following on from the initial ‘Beginners Photography Course’ you are presented with numerous other courses i.e. Lightroom, Headshots, studio lighting, landscape, long exposure photography and several others. My initial thoughts were “but very little of this is of interest to me” Not so I discovered. I started looking through several of the subjects I thought I wouldn't be interested in and discovered that even if you are not interested in studio lighting because you prefer landscape photography you will take something away with you and understood something about lighting or what your camera can do so don't dismiss anything. These courses are presented by established photographers and are experts in their field. There is also a ‘Community’ within TSOP where members can chat to each other and submit their photographs for some peer critique. On top of all this, Marc sets out a photographic project or challenge each month where he provides the subject matter and wants you to go out and take photographs with your own interpretation of that subject, submit them and he will then select a few submissions which he presents in a video with his own comments.TSOP also offers a help line/email for any queries you may have concerning the course. Finally, would I recommend this course? Absolutely, even if you are a total beginner or experienced professional everyone can learn something from TSOP.

The School of Photography course has been fantastic, I have learnt so much as I was a complete beginner.I really like the task notes as I keep them in a folder and can refer to them, when needed. Notwithstanding, the videos that I repeatedly watch. I am continuing on, learning lightroom then plan to do the Macro Photography course. I highly recommend the course and would encourage anyone interested in photography to join as a member. I have already recommended the course to a friend of mine.

I searched around for a well reviewed, good value course to improve my wildlife skills before a trip. Membership at TSOP was less expensive than single courses from many places. The breadth of courses available is fantastic. The community is stellar and supportive. The courses (have finished the landscape and wildlife so far) are hands-on, practical and I could see improvements in my photo skills from the first lesson and can practice right in my backyard. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loving the School of Photography.Marc's teaching style really suits me. Was fishing around on YouTube for about 6 months before I came across you guys.Beginners course really helped me understand the basics, and gave me the confidence to try different ideas. I regularly check back on different stuff, just to refresh my memory.

I have been pursuing my retirement interest in photography for just over 3 years and having tried other online courses for photography basics and both Lightroom and Photoshop for editing. I had found the editing courses difficult to follow and lacking a structured learning approach. One genre of photography that I am interested in is wildlife and I follow Andy Rouse and his amazing pictures on Instagram. When I saw that he offers an online wildlife Photoshop editing course at the School of Photography I was very interested, however, it requires prior knowledge and experience of Photoshop, something that I definitely lacked in confidence in spite of working with other courses. Therefore I looked deeper into the School of Photography online offerings and became more and more interested. After much research and review reading, I signed up as a member of the School and I have not looked back. The structured learning that Marc Newton has put together is logical, easy to follow and understandable and I now realise the many mistakes that I have made in my use of Lightroom to date (I now am rearranging my entire catalogue as it was in a mess). I have also learnt many features of Lightroom that previous courses had not highlighted. I completed the beginners course in photography (went back to boot camp) which was very useful and I am now about half way through the very comprehensive Lightroom course which I am now looking at in new light (pardon the pun).I am so pleased that I have joined the School of Photography and now actually look forward to tackling Photoshop. The online community of members is accessible through both a portal and Facebook and they are friendly and mega helpful. For those new to photography, those looking for a refreshing, and structured pedagogic approach to learning these complex programs and even experienced togs wanting to explore new approaches, I cannot recommend the School of Photography highly enough.

I had never heard of the school of photography and it was only when I purchased the book online whilst reading through I saw they had a website so I took a look and haven't looked back since. This course has really helped me to get a much better understanding of it all.I have never been great at learning new things but Marc has such a way of teaching that you really do learn and take it all in.Since being on this course my photographs have improved every time and I am able to put what I have learnt into practice. The best bits from the school of photography I guess that it would be that there's this whole little community online where you can share your pictures and are there to help, guide and give you support.

I have so far completed the Beginners Photography course and Lightroom course. Both were great - I had to unlearn some of what I have been doing, alongside learning a multitude of useful new techniques, tips and tools.Marc has an easy to follow teaching style; excellent delivery, great use of repetition to reinforce messages and instructions.I've found the assignments and feedback sessions useful, and thoroughly enjoyed the live chat with guest photographer Robert Cannis.

I decided to join The School of Photography as I wanted to learn LR properly, but was also attracted to a number of their speciality courses. So far I have done Fine Art Landscape, Pro Landscape and recently completed the Wildlife Photography course. The latter course was NOT about expensive equipment and exotic locations, but about how to start your journey into Wildlife photography. I highly recommend the courses, they are fun, the videos are short and practical, the information is clear and sensible and there is a strong community 'behind the scenes' where you get challenges, critique, information and support. Thank you Marc and the team, I'm glad I joined.
