Lotte Glob

We've been to Lotte's croft two years in a row and loved it so much both times. It's difficult to explain it with words or even photos, but I'll try. Imagine a place where the wild and raw beauty of northern Scotland meets the creative genius of a ceramicist who loves the land and is completely inspired by it. That place is Lotte Glob's croft where you're free to wander her piece of land to discover the little (and sometimes not so little) surprises she's scattered around there - sculptures, ceramic figures and the hundreds, if not thousands of trees she's planted. Then finish it all off with a visit to her gallery to maybe find some works that you recognize from your walk, or something completely new. This year we met Lotte who was so gracious and open to all our questions about her creative process. Whatever you do when you're on the NC500 or just happen to be around Durness, please please please don't let the chance to visit the amazing place go by.

This is probably the most interesting gallery in the North of Scotland. There's a quirky feel to not only the crafted ceramic artwork produced by Lotte Glob but the whole place has been embedded by this style. All around the property bizarre features like eyeballs, stone books and little aliens are sprinkled amongst the garden plants. Even the garden itself is of eclectic interest, with rainbow trees and fruits growing all around it really creates and oasis of artistic will in an otherwise starkly baron landscape around loch Eribol. We especially enjoyed the secret broch and the stone books.

Decent views of the rocks if you're interested. Parking nearby, where it says no parking. I didn't get out, but stopped to have a look at them from my window.

Beautiful place. Ms Lotte is very nice person. It was a pleasure for me to see her as well as her works. Beautiful.

I had hoped to meet Lotte, looked for her but didn't find her. I did find a lot of her wonderful pottery. Loved the quirkiness, bang up my street. Unfortunately due to all the rain we've had I didn't manage to see the Book Broch due to the ground being water loged. Don't miss visiting, you are in for a treat.

This place is a show room of art made out of clay. I really liked the art but the prices were amazing, see my pictures. It would be crazy to pass this place and not have a look as its free to look. Loved the rock hoppers.
