Very unique bookshop. How many other bookshops are built in an old trains station after all? The building is a tad leaky (we visited on a rainy day) but the overall feel is cosy. The range and selection of books is huge, so if you're after something specific then grab a map or use the database to search.

Best bookshop in the world. Open coal fires and sofas all set in an old railway station. Even has a model railway running around the book shelves. Cafe serves great coffee and food. Could have spent the day there.

An amazing book shop, so beautifully laid out. We bought a couple books half price. Cute nooks to sit down and read a book. Yummy cafe, and parking was easy.

Great selection of books at very good prices. Not your average bookshop. Lots of vintage books, friendly staff, lovely cafe (short wait). Great model railway but a small collection of young adults and my tween was not satisfied

The amazing Barter books - the place to come for the elusive vintage book you know you have wanted for ever. Dog and children friendly - plenty of places to sit and browse. Cafe on site - amazing how the trains still run!

Visited the bookstore yesterday during a trip to Alnwick. The store is a lot bigger than I expected, great range of books, lots of places to sit and there is a café inside too. There are also model trains that run around a track on top to the bookcases!I recommend a visit while you are in Alnwick

What a book shop. It has everything from car parking, great cafeteria and toilets. I forgot the most important thing, they have more secondhand books than you can imagine. Great atmosphere and pleasant and helpful staff. A very nice model railway running round above head height.

Amazing bookshop with some great character and a huge selection of books.Car parks incredibly cramped to navigate in a big car.Lovely cafe with some nice coffee too

Fantastic place to while away the hours reading the books, eating the tasty food on offer in the cafe and watching the trains scoot around the library overhead. Always visit when on holiday here.Cheeky ice cream at the Paradise next door a must.
