I have been working for Enable 2 for more than 1 year now as a Freelance Interpreter for the language Italian.It always been a pleasure to assist with their assignments, all the instructions are easy to follow, emails and communication always happened in timely and prompt manners, and so did payments.Enable 2 portal for Interpreter is so clear and easy to use.It also show the feedback we receive as interprets, which is very encouraging.All my assignments went through in a timely and consistent manner, I never had cancellations or patients/clients not showing up, and worked with polite professionals on the other end.I can confidently recommend working for Enable 2.

Pros:- Easy registration- They actually answer your emails/queries (unfortunately not standard for all agencies)- Free training opportunities- Pay you at the start of the following month (unfortunately not standard for all agencies)Cons:- Low rates of pay: this needs to improve all across the board for community interpreting, this is the main reason most decline face to face bookings; the commuting time makes interpreters lose money even if travel expenses are covered because they could have had a call in that time instead. It is also a very demanding job mentally so 8 hours a day in order to make an acceptable living of it is not realistic, but 5 or 6 hours a day would be.- Not that many available bookings, at least in my languages (French/Spanish), they are taken very quickly- More support needed to be able to take calls on a laptop as opposed to telephone (I have a mic and headphones so can provide better service, this way as the sound would be better for everyone in the call)Lastly, some things that would help: - advising clients/providers to allow a 5-10 minute wait for the interpreter without penalising us, so we can book back to back but still be able to go get water, use the toilet, stretch our legs... perhaps starting meetings at odd times such as 10:15 instead of 10:00 or 10:30 would help, or to let the interpreter go 5 minutes before the booked time as a standard- have a booklet for service providers and clients on how sessions with interpreters work, so they know not to book only one hour for a conference with many people, not to expect simultaneous interpreting, so they know to wait their turn and not talk over each other, that we need to do our introduction, to help us with as much as they can tell us before the meeting starts, that some acronyms that they use daily are best used in full at least the first time they say it in the meeting, to talk directly to each other and not to the interpreter, to check with the interpreter at the end of the session if they need emotional support... Many service providers understand all of this but in my experience this past year, conferences are particularly challenging because not everyone present in the conference knows what to expect of a community interpreter.

From a freelance point of view, I do the same type of work with many specialised organizations in the area, however, I admit that this language service provider is very organised, widely spread & reputable in the sector, especially within the healthcare field. As an interpreter, I've benefited a lot from the type/level of assignments & the free specialised training provided. Their online booking system is easily customizable & up to date so I receive instant notifications about any available bookings & that's a real added bonus. Importantly though, there were no issues regarding fee remittance & it's been a mutually professional experience so far!
