An excellent experience from start to finish. Our cottage was beautiful, every detail thought of and so clean! A perfect stay for our family of four. We will definitely book with Tarn & Fell Escapes again!

Great stay and perfect location, close to Windermere, with a good pub serving food just a few minutes walk away. Worked perfectly for exploring the Lake District with our dog. Would definitely book again.

We had a wonderful week staying at Mill cottage which is perfect location for travelling around the Lake District-Five minutes from Windermere with great transport links with bus stops 2 minutes walk from the cottage.This was a Clean comfortable property with all the things you will need for your stay away large bed, Smart Tv new appliances throughout.Highly recommend TARN&FELL ESCAPES who dealt with our booking and communication was fantastic from start to finish from Ross.We would happily stay at this property again and can highly recommend it to all.

Superb cottage, excellent location, lovely little touches.Ross was amazing, communication was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Smithy Cottage, Hawkshead. We found the cottage very clean and the thoughtful gifts from the nearby Relish Shop and the dog biscuits were very well received. Smithy Cottage is spacious, comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need for self-catering. The bedrooms are large and the beds are very comfy.The cottage is ideally positioned in a quiet lane in Hawkshead and has a lovely enclosed paved area at the front, ideal for relaxing in with our two dogs after a days fell-walking and exploring the area.Ross was extremely helpful and quickly responded to our queries prior to booking.

A very comfortable stay in a beautiful cottage. Lamps were left on for our arrival and a lovely welcome gift left on the coffee table. Kitchen was perfectly equipped for cooking and dining.We booked the cottage primarily for its lake access but sadly we arrived in gale force winds and lashing rain. Had a little walk down to the shared beach and can imagine it would be ideal in good weather.Really appreciated the comfy sofas and blankets to hunker down through the bad weather. This was our 4th self catering cottage with a log burner on this trip, but the only one not to provide kindling and wood even just for the first evening, would have been a nice touch.The bathroom was clean and very light, and the shower is spacious. Towels and linen were top quality but no bath sheet sized towels provided, only small bath towels.Beds were very comfortable and bedrooms were beautifully presented.No carpets in the property which made it very easy to clean up after muddy dog walks.Hot water in kitchen is a bit of a dribble but with a handy dishwasher not an issue for washing up.Spiral staircase is beautiful but terrifying to negotiate in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom. Outdoor areas are treacherous in wet weather and in the dark too, definitely unsuitable for young children, but anyone would have to be quite sure-footed and mobile to use the upstairs room or outdoor areas. The natural landscape of this property does add to the natural charm of this cottage though.Shorter stay options would have been ideal as we had to pay for an extra day we didn’t use in order to secure the property as birthday treat from my family to myself, in the hopes that I could spend the day paddleboarding from the beach, sadly the weather thwarted our plans and also caused a power cut on our last day, so we had to leave even earlier than planned.That said, it is a beautiful, comfortable and cosy cottage to be trapped in during bad weather, once we found some wood for the log burner.

Ideal location. Very very comfortable. Beds were fabulous. Parking is a massive bonus. The apartment was more than we expected. Much more. Ross’s communication from start to end was great and the whole trip was much needed and much appreciated. Keep up the good work.

A clean tidy, cosy and friendly cottage which was a superb place for a family weekend away. Walking in thelocal area was good and the local shops were friendly and helpful. We would definitely come again

Excellent holiday rental, clean, tidy, well equipped, and very comfortable. Great communication and speedy responses from Ross, super easy check in. Fantastic personal touches too - knew we were taking a dog, and there was a doggie station set up and ready to go, along with a little bag of doggie treats. I would recommend this place and holiday rental company to everyone!
