St George's Church

Tranquil and historic little church with beautiful views over the fields. Given it's age, facilities are basic; with limited parking along the grass verge and use of heaters inside when services are run.

This old church is set on the top of a hill with fine views to the Cleveland Hills. The church does not have a spire as shown in some photos, I was told they were of a different church by the person who maintains the grounds. Apparently there was a spire or tower many, many years ago but it fell down!The building was locked up when I went, but it was nice to sit in the porch and rest after walking 5 miles or so.

Although there are only periodic services this was an excellent setting and is a well lo9ked after old Saxon Church.

A little church. Locked up and old graveyard. Nice view over fields, but road very rough, like a farm track. Depending on the weather, go slow, as some big potholes to negotiate. There is only enough parking for a few vehicles.It's near to the airport too, so expect security to be patrolling the perimeter and keep an eye on people/vehicles visiting church.Also, the road leading towards church has an emergency entrance to the airport and is very narrow, so can not park along it.The road up to the Church also leads to a couple of houses, so people who own them will know your passing, as is a very quiet spot.

A very picturesque setting off the beaten track. This well kept church and grounds is a credit to all those that have nurtured this remote church.
