Duck Inn Stanhoe

Under new management, so deleted review from 1 Yr ago to post this. Starter of pigeon breast nice, limited main course selection so we had liver which was overcooked (staff informed but seemed nonplussed). Puddings especially the banana STP nice too. We'll be back to try the Sunday lunch! (£55 per head incl 3 glasses of wine)

Had a superb meal here, can highly recommend the chicken and salmon mains.Service spot on in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Lovely outside area too.

The food was excellent. They told me my dog, who has only just arrived and is restaurant trained at many Michelin star restaurants, had peed in the fireplace which was just by our table. I didn't see it but they shouted it across a crowded restaurant and held up a large wad of paper, again across the other side of the restaurant with instructions to clean it up. If indeed it was my dog, I felt the way they handled it was humiliating and had we not already ordered, I would have left however, we had placed our order so we went out to a deserted garden for our meal which was very good. The staff clearly lack training and this should have been dealt with far more sensitively. We didn't enjoy the meal because of the deliberately humiliating start.

Great food, friendly and efficient service and very good selection of wines and beer. Highly recommend

So, this was our first time back at the Duck under the new owners and we were excited to read other reviews confirming that the previously impeccable standards had been maintained. Sadly we cannot agree! We had what we felt was a very average Sunday lunch. It was fine, we ate it but it was bland, under seasoned and with the tiniest drizzle of gravy on the plate. We had 3 out of the 4 desserts on the menu and these were really disappointing although one of our party thought the sticky toffee pud was ok . The cheesecake tasted like a lump of lemon & cream cheese which was actually really unpleasant to eat, no base or topping or sauce other than 2 small meringue shards. Service was decent and staff pleasant, although we did have to wait ten mins at a crowded bar area on our table being ready. For £20, for the roast dinner main I suppose it was ok. The portion size was generous just a bit tasteless.

We have always loved The Duck.Ben and Sarah Handley had been their for 10 years.New Proprietors will be there by the time that this Review has been posted.We wish Ben and Sarah all the very best and look forward to seeing what the future may bring.

Rude front of house. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come and serve us. There was 1 other party and 4 members of staff standing around the bar. So hardly swept of there feet. In the end, decided to walk out.Rubbish lunch menu and bad service. Wont be going back!Can see why it was dead on a Sunday afternoon after the terrible service we received!

Visited this week for my Dads 80th Birthday and had a lovely evening.they really went the extra mile and the food was absolutely delicious. New owners keep doing what your doing we had a very special evening thanks to the team at the Duck Inn we will definitely be back it was the best meal we ate whilst in Norfolk would highly highly recommend

We’re not local, but understand the Duck Inn is under new ownership. We had a beautiful Sunday lunch here today. The setting, service, drinks and food were absolutely fantastic and it was lovely to see the restaurant busy. All the staff were friendly and worked hard.In addition to the roast dinner, we had desserts of sticky toffee pudding and the best caramel panacotta with salted caramel ice cream and parkin. It didn’t last long enough for the photo…The Duck Inn is very highly recommended

We didn’t stay at the Duck Inn, but celebrated our Wedding Anniversary there. The whole experience was wonderful. Everyone in our party of four thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Truly delicious food. I highly recommend the restaurant and I’m sure the same standard would apply to the accommodation.
