Build Team

We used the Build Team for our side return in East Dulwich, with Simon Roofing being the subcontractor. Very pleased with the work and the communication during the build was very good.

We used Build Team for the design and build of our rear extension. A great experience all round. Nisha, our designer created a design that pushed our vision further. They assigned us a great contractor who we will continue to use in the future and Gustavo, our project manager was very attentive and quickly solved any problems that arose. Would definitely recommend their services!

Build Team completed our kitchen extension and refurb last year.The design process was useful however prior to starting the process, the part we were always most apprehensive about was navigating the construction itself. We were delighted to have our worries alleviated by the service from the building contracting team and our appointed manager, Sean, who was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and engaging throughout. The building team were experienced, conscientious and tidy too - important as we didn’t have the luxury of moving out during the build! The rapport between the builder and manager was obvious and filled us with confidence from the first meeting.An unexpected structural change was required for additional reinforced steel works and a public sewer. This was handled well under the circumstances.Perhaps some of these eventualities could have been brought to our attention during the design consultations, however they were handled professionally with minimal delay.There were some delays with the glazing installation, some defects once installed too, which were managed well by the team, and we cant deny how pleased we are with the end result. The builder installed our new Velux roof windows and they make a huge difference with light!Build Teams spec did not include final touches, our kitchen and bathroom for example, however they frequently went over and above to help us with these aspects and we directly employed the main builder to install our suites and complete all decoration.If you are looking for a reliable hand to guide you through a daunting renovation project - we would have no doubt recommend Build Team.

We were assigned some fantastic contractors, who really helped to bring our vision to life and were super-responsive at all times. We are really happy with the final results and given the scale of the project, enjoyed a relatively stress-free experience.

I used Build Team's design service to draw up the plans for my kitchen extension and loft conversion. I was really impressed with the level of service provided by John McNally. He was responsive, communicated clearly and smoothly managed the whole process from start to finish. As a novice renovator I felt like I was in a safe pair of hands.I will be using Build Team for the construction phase but that work has not started. I'll post a second review when the work is complete.

As someone who recently had a harrowing experience with Build Team I need to share my review about the services provided by this company. The renovations commenced in October 2021. After enduring seemingly endless setbacks, we finally set foot in our newly remodelled home in September 2022 while some items are still pending.Missed Deadlines: Right from the start, the project was plagued by delays. It was supposed to be a 12-week project and it took more than 10 months for us to move in. We changed three different teams of builders as people kept on disappearing. Build Team repeatedly failed to meet the agreed-upon deadlines, causing significant disruptions to our plans and costing us valuable time and money. Their lack of professionalism and punctuality was utterly frustrating.Lack of Quality Supervision: It is now evident that there was a severe lack of quality supervision. UHF pipes were blocked and we had to hire an independent plumber to identify what the problem was as Build Team would ignore our complaints. This lack of attention resulted in a final product that fell far below industry standards.Malfunctioning Under Floor Heating: As mentioned above, one of the key features we requested was Under Floor Heating, but it has been nothing but trouble since its installation. The system has never functioned as it should, leaving us in discomfort. In January when the temperatures fell super low, we had no heating whatsoever. I have multiple messages asking for their help. Please note that I work from home.Unresolved Glass Damage: Two large pieces of glazing were promptly damaged during the construction process. Despite our numerous complaints, they have yet to replace the damaged glass, leaving our home aesthetically compromised and potentially dangerous.Inconsistent Hot Water Supply: We have massive issues with hot water supply. Build Team certified the new boiler installation but we have experienced frequent fluctuations in temperature.Indifference to Concerns: No matter how significant our concerns were, the director of Build Team showed no empathy or genuine interest in resolving them. They would not even respond to emails. The project manager has been responding but I do not see them bringing any result as they keep on repeating that all the above issues are the contractor's responsibility. Despite signing off on each section and part of the project and providing us with successful completion certificates, they refuse to take responsibility.We have waited for 9 months -after we moved in- for them to fix the malfunctioning heating system, hot water supply and replace the damaged glazing but we see no interest from their side whatsoever.In conclusion, our experience with Build Team was profoundly disappointing. Their inability to meet deadlines, lack of quality supervision, malfunctioning heating system, unresolved damage and poor communication have disappointed us massively. Our expectations were far from met.

We used Build Team for a ground floor side return extension. What attracted me to Build Team was the fact they were able to offer a complete solution and commit to a fixed price contract. We had begun initial enquiries with traditional architects. However, they were always unwilling to even estimate a provisional figure for the build cost, which left us with a lot of risk. While employing an “architectural designer” rather than a traditional architect, the design produced by Build Team was stylish and practical. The design went through the planning stage smoothly. I have nothing but praise for the contractor selected for the build, and the contract management by Build Team was effective. Build Team’s staff are young, which was a concern, however I found the firm to be professional and thoroughly competent and would happily recommend to others.

Build Team have just finished our kitchen extension. This is a side-return on our Edwardian terraced house.We chose Build Team because we were impressed with the integrated service they offer, and we could see good evidence of previous successful projects. Going to one of their open days at a recently completed project enabled us to see the quality of the finished work and talk to a range of professionals.The design stage was vey ably coordinated by John McNally, who listened very carefully to the brief and came up with effective solutions that matched our needs. Tess Ingle, on the interior and landscape aspects, was excellent at helping us shape our plans, challenging some of our perspective and getting to a better finished design. For example, she moved the island around and it was a 'light bulb moment' for us!Gustavo Cilumbriello was then appointed our build manager. He has proved invaluable in providing objective review of each stage of the project and handling any troubleshooting. We had a false start with the first builder, who withdrew after one week, but Gustavo was excellent at immediately matching us up with Bogdan Ion of Ivy Interior Design, who has also proved a real asset. Bogdan and his team have given us a very high quality finish. The Build Manager and the Builder have worked well to keep us as clients in the centre of the project. Communication has been excellent throughout. There are inevitable challenges due to unforeseen aspects in the existing building, and these have been actively managed without stress for us.We are delighted with our great new space and would definitely highly recommend Build Team.

We decided to use Buildteam for both Design and Build they were prompt in getting back to us.Steven our architect was very good and the plans were done within a short period of time. After getting other quotes we found Buildteam the best.We were assigned to Sean as our project manager who helped us through the building process and gave us great support.Our assigned building contractor was Bujar and his team they were EXCELLENT through the building process they accommodated for our needs and their workmanship was Fantastic they communicated and informed us at every stage of works commencedWell done to contractor Bujar and his team we are extremely happy with our project.Paul and Diana
