Whitchurch Road Surgery

Appointment booking service is terrible. Can't book an appointment even started calling at 8 am and only 10 people in queue. At 8:30, call gets disconnected before reaching top of of queue.

What a pathetic appointment system, if you don’t call at 8am you are treated like an idiot by the woman on the phone and your problem is completely disregarded, forget the fact they’re lines aren’t busy the entire day and can’t simply help you book an appointment for a later date they’ll instead just make you feel stupid for even calling. Can only imagine how the rest of the staff make you feel

Honestly such awful experiences with this surgery in the past year. As a patient for 8+ years it feels like a totally different place. Reception staff are particularly rude and appear to enjoy the power of diary management, with a preference for putting you through a process of begging and emotional breakdown before they'll find a magic space- then relishing in knowingly offering you an appointment (14 mins later) they know you can't make. If people are really trying to understand why people feel it's safer and more dignified to sit in a&e for 14 hours to see a health professional I suggest they start here.

Worse ever experience of my life. Dr Lloyd is a neglectful doctor. He told me that I had nothing wrong with me, and then three months later I decided to take matters in my own hands and go to a different doctor and I ended up being diagnosed with cancer and I had to have Two major surgery’s in my intestine which is very rare for my age. he didnt do the checks he was supposed to do and when I asked him to he told me that he was to busy. I went to him three times and was told that I had nothing wrong with me. During Covid and in the lockdown I was scheduled for my surgery which was cancelled three times. My tumour grew and I had to be booked in for an emergency surgery. A surgeon flew from America to come and perform my surgery. this amazing surgeon told me that If I hadn’t of had the surgery when I didwhen I did I would have had major complications because this should have been sorted a while ago and not left neglected to grow as big as it has especially as I have a history of childhood Leukaemia and it was predicted after that, that I may have cancer later on from the effects of the chemotherapy.So just a warning to all. Don’t go to this surgery. I had to learn the hard way.

Nice new building with not enough doctors to staff it. Good luck trying to get an appointment, you will be on hold for up to an hour then told there are none left. If you do manage to get one you can expect to wait atleast another hour after the time you're given to be seen

Yesterday, I visited Whitchurch Road Surgery for an appointment while in severe pain and feeling unwell. The reception team showed great kindness by offering me a cup of water, and I was promptly called in to see Dr White. The care provided by Dr White was highly professional and thorough.The team were lovely, and the environment was comfortable. My sincere thanks for the excellent service.

I had the pleasure of being appointed Dr Lloyd on my first visit to the surgery. Enthusiastic, thorough and concise in his assessment Dr Lloyd had the best bedside manner I have come across. The surgery itself is very pleasant with a warm and welcoming receptionist team.

Worst experience with booking routine appointmnets. I received the letter after my daughter blood test to contact the GP and book an appointmnet. After calling them si many times and going through a queue on the phone, the receptionist again tells you to call again morning or the afternoon as the diary is not open. Can you please put me on the waiting list, atleast, but book me in, please Frustrating!

Don’t know where to start except been with this surgery for 22 years and I can say it’s one of the best in Cardiff.Staff are so friendly and understanding. Drs are outstanding I have known Dr Lloyd and Dr Towner for so long I can’t put in words how thorough they are. You don’t appreciate it until you see other surgeries. My mum was with another surgery but she changed joined Whitchurch Rd surgery, you could see the difference to my mother’s care straight away. My mother is recovering from cancer the doctors in this surgery are making sure all her needs are met with respect. Which she didn’t get before especially from the other surgery’s reception team.Since joining my mum to Whitchurch Road surgery mum has been seen on the same day or next day. Yes sometimes I do have to wait to get through but that is expected but once through the receptionist team have been so helpful can’t fault them.Thank you to the Whitchurch Road surgery team

A lovely welcoming surgery. GPs and practice nurses are lovely and caring. Really great now they're in their new practice as access is now excellent. I would recommend this practice to anyone.
