Me & my Neice were treated to the taster menu for the 2nd time & were very satisfied once again. The attention to detail with the food presented was superb & very tasteful. The service provided by the waiter & waitresses was excellent,describing each course thoroughly. The only complaint we had sadly was a couple sat near to us who obviously do not appreciate good quality food & would of been more suited to pub grub.

Had three course menu for dinner. Incredible food, fantastic presentation, excellent service. A proper fine dining experience. Would highly highly recommend. No doubt we will be back.

A truly lovely restaurant with comfortable, well appointed rooms. The food is top top class. Creative, delicious and visually stunning dishes that combine fine dining techniques with lick your plate clean flavours. Hard to fault it. My only disappointment was the meal ended. Every bit as good as most Michelin starred meals.

Can't discuss the rooms as we weren't staying but the food and wine was really excellent. Unfortunately, the ambience was not as good as the quality of food, wine and service. You should go more upmarket; your food is good enough!

Renowned for its vertiginous landscape and breathtaking views the lake district has always been a firm favourite for the outdoor type. But in recent times Cumbria has quietly built a reputation as a first class foodie destination boasting the most Michelin star restaurants in a county outside London.We were keen to try the ambitious 1863 in Pooley Bridge proudly named after the date it was built. The modern version was welcoming and well furnished with plenty of interesting memorabilia to browse between courses.The 7 course tasting menu started with the regular amuse bouche, tasty but not stunning and there was a suprise glass of bubbles with the wine pairing.The opening venison tartare was splendid, packed in flavour with a welcome hazelnut texture contrast.All courses were excellent but the star of the show was undoubtedly the Creedy Carver duck, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, a crispy skin and accompanied with duck leg wrapped in savoy cabbage and pumpkin seeds.The wine pairings were well matched although the Rioja Blanco, with the halibut; was perhaps slightly over woody for my pallet. If there was one criticism the sommelier needs some work, particularly if there is ambition to join the Cumbrian elite with a star.The closing expresso was weak and my Balvenie 12 was wrecklessly delivered with a lump of ice but overall an enjoyable fine dining experience and well recommended.

It's top notch all round. Very welcoming and engaging. The food and flavours that come out of the kitchen are mouth watering and where possible, locally sourced. Waiting staff are very helpful in explaining each dish. Dining here is not cheap, but it's good value.

The most amazing restaurant. Food was sublime. Staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. Relaxed Michelin dining at its very best.

This is our second time for lunch and both visits have been excellent.The staff were exemplary, especially as we had our 9 month old daughter with us. We were made to feel incredibly welcome.

Excellent food and service. A real culinary treat, unusual ingredients that made your taste buds sing. All the staff explained every course and were really helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we were sat by a couple who did not appreciate the work that went into producing such a menu and were ignorant. Put that aside I will certainly visit again and that’s not my first.

The food is absolutely exceptional. We have eaten here on a number of occasions now, and i honestly can not fault it. All of the staff are also really nice and you receive a very warm welcome
