Believed that a church was founded here in 731 AD by Bishop Cedd, Bede in his 'Ecclesiastical History of the English People' recorded Cedd coming up the Thames and founding a church and monastery at Tilaburg (ast ilbury) most probably in 654 AD

Haven't seen st Catherine's church for a while but it really does bring back loads of memories of my wedding nearly 25 years ago.its such a lovely location for that big day.

Went for a walk at Tilbury Fort the church was open for coffee and cake! Really friendly people there, good selection of home made cakes and a nice coffee...well worth the visit!
