Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic, Wickford
Total scam. They tell you it will costs one thing, then when they get you in for a blood test (which they do before any consultation of any type which is crazy) they then called and said it would actually costs X amount more. The increase on what was originally quoted was £2500+. They are meant to be there to help people, but all they do is try and take in as much money as possible!! DO NOT USE, AVOID!!Use the lister fertility clinic in London instead!

I would like to be more generous with my rating as the staff are amazing at Bourn. However the constant lack of communication when going through fertility issues anyway make things so much worse and is therefore reflected in this rating. Since covid staff only seem to like to communicate" through email and can sometimes take weeks to get back to you. Bourn sometimes need to remember a little reassurance goes a long way during tough times. It shouldn't be left to the patient always to contact the company."

Do not use this clinic. No receptionist when you walk in more interested in giving you a mask and taking your temperature not personal at all. Had test done and of course paid for them. Had another scan because I need an op on the nhs I have asked for a copy of the scan and was told until I pay the 200 pound for the scan that’s when they will send the letter to my Gp. AVOID THIS CLINIC!

Unfortunately, we have found whilst being at Bourn Hall we have received very mixed information from several nurses and doctors. After spending a great deal of money with them myself and husband have found the whole experience very unsettling. Another clinic has offered us a lot more and does seem to give more information and support regarding the whole procedure and seem a lot more organized and reassuring. They have also added the extras in which you charge for free of charge as the embryo glue and scratching which is compulsory offered after a failed IVF cycle.During the experience I don’t believe we have been treated very well or with any sympathy from your staff, after telling your team that our IVF failed whilst crying on the phone to yet another phone call 5 minutes later from another one of your staff asking me to sign a consent form for another round. I find this highly insensitive and yet just proves which we have now come to the terms with your company unfortuantely is only interested in gaining profit not in your clients mental health or journey. We also never had any support during the 2 weeks of waiting not even a phone call to check to see if we was coping ok or any reassurance. We will unfortunately not be recommending Bourn Hall to anyone going through trying to conceive as the journey is hard in its self and to have little or no support when paying a great deal of money is just not acceptable. Please make sure you research other clinics before going ahead with treatment we wish we had but hopefully now with moving our embryos to another clinic we will have a more positive response. We did receive a email back once complaining and yet said we would receive a phone call and this has even failed to materialize from a senior member of the company.

Nurses are very nice but other department are only after money. They wanted me to pay money for a service I didnt use. Kept e-mailing and posting me letters. Was terrible at such a sensitive time. I would advise other people to go else unfortunately.

I really wanted to write this review because when I was first starting fertility treatment I was referred by my consultant to this clinic. Having looked on Google I saw some bad reviews which put me off. My husband assured me that normally those who had a good experience just got on with things and forgot to leave reviews. The clinic has honestly been nothing but fantastic from start to finish of treatment. The nurses, consultant and lady doing the scans have been amazing, so compassionate, caring and kind. All my appointments have been on time and when I’ve needed to contact the nurses they have come back quickly and always pick up the phone if you need to call for an urgent query. Also I had been trying to work my appointments around my work schedule and they were very accommodating with this so it did not impact my job at all. I would highly recommend you to use this clinic you will get the best care. Thank you so much to everyone at Bourn Hall Wickford!

My experience at their Colchester branch could not have been better. Wonderful personal service, nurses kind and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble. My second experience was not the greatest to begin with that then got steadily worse as it went on. I was lucky that after 3 failed IUIs, we were successful in falling pregnant with our first IVF. However.. these bits were the negatives that I hope others benefit from knowing.1) Never assume they have re-read or remembered your file. Several things I had to remind them of at every appointment. One being I was allergic to morphine. I pointed out that I normally get given a red wrist tag due to my allergy, I had to be given anti-sickness meds as I was given a painkiller of the morphine family.2) Stand firm with what you want. On the day of the transfer I was persuaded to transfer two embryos despite me saying throughout the process that I only wanted to transfer one. We now have twins which actually are a delight but I had a difficult and complicated pregnancy and premature births. Nothing was how I had hoped.3) Your partners are now allowed in with you for the transfer. They failed to tell me this so I went through it all on my own.4) Call for updates on your blastocysts. I found out there were no surviving ones via an email with a credit note from their accounts department because there was nothing surviving to freeze. So insensitive and broke me when I was in my two week wait.5) Leave yourself HEAPS of time for your scans. They are always running late - one of my appts was over an hour late and you have to sit and wait in your car. When I pointed out I was now really late to get back to work, I got a whole story of how understaffed they are and they don't even get time to eat their lunch. The nurse ate her sandwiches during my scan.6) Get a private scan to be on the safe side. Two scans of my pregnancies were incorrect. The first pregnancy, their internal scan showed an empty sac so I was told I was likely to be miscarrying. THE VERY NEXT DAY I had a normal ultrasound scan, baby was there with a good heartbeat. 2nd pregnancy, the scan showed only one baby - def only one. Nope, I was pregnant with twins.7) Don't expect any compassion for your journey - it costs you thousands and probably everything you have to go through this financially and emotionally. You are just one of the hundreds through their doors with the same story. You are a patient number. It's what they do day in and day out - feels insensitive but it's their day job.As said, we were lucky. We were successful. But I do not look back at our journey fondly. It all added to the stress and heartache of a terribly situation.
