I had lunch yesterday and I enjoyed my time there. Elizabeth was very nice and welcoming. She recommended lasagna and she was right. It was delicious! Thank you! I’ll be there next time when I’m in the area.

Oh wow, where to start! I'm currently here in room 1 as I write this review....Decided to stay here because I like vintage inns and never tried one of their hotels before. Seemed a good idea - travelling for work. Reasonable price. Free parking and pub on site. After a 4 and a half hour drive I arrived. Nice welcome, checked in okay and went to my room (room 12). It had not been serviced. Lugged all belongings back to the bar and eventually given a key for room 1. Staff really apologetic and I get it, these things happen.Room 1 not ideal; female solo traveller, it's on the ground floor so not sure how I feel about keeping the windows open tonight. But I'm just glad for a room at this stage. Quick freshen up and down to the bar for food. Only 1 chef on so 45 minute wait....that's okay, I can wait and couldn't bear getting back in the car. Again, staff super apologetic. Ordered gammon, egg & chips. All good just a very small portion of peas but the meal tasted good. Now I'm back in my room (room 1) and there is no TV remote! I've searched high and low, under the bed and even in my own suitcase. Honestly this just feels like I wasn't meant to stay here.Overall, clean room, reasonable food and staff polite. But honestly, it just seems like one hassle after another after a long drive. I'll tolerate it because I'm away with work but had this been my own money & leisure time I'd be after compensation. Next time though I'll book the holiday inn for a hassle free stay.Update: how did I sleep? Not too bad, until it started raining. I can only imagine the gutter above my window is broken - see video clips. Can guarantee I won't be staying here again! Faulty towers springs to mind.

I wanted to like this establishment, I really did, but it was unfortunately disappointing. The room looked very nice upon entering, room 2, but there were issues. My bedroom light fitting was loose and did not work, there were areas of paint missing off the skirting board, and the whole room needed a bit of an uplift, which I understand happens over time. The biggest issue was the TV in the room which did not work.I took the remote back to the bar and asked if they would change the batteries, but after a while the manager returned to say that here weren't any batteries so she had given me a new remote handset.I returned to our room, but this still wouldn't get the TV to work. I returned to the bar and had to wait quite a while for the staff to take a look at the TV, but eventually they admitted defeat (they were busy and a little understaffed) and offered a refund, which we accepted. We had been out all day working at a local show, so eager to order food (on a Friday night) but had to wait around 40 minutes for the food to come out, and my fishcakes were quite burnt, but i was so hungry I ate them as I did not wish to wait any longer to be fed.The cooked breakfasts were good quality and nicely cooked, but the tea machine did not work. There was a good selection of choices on the evening meal menu, but the menus in the rooms were different to the menus in the bar.Overall it could have been so much better, the staff were quite friendly, but too many things went wrong during our two night stay

I came here with my family last week, upon arrival the staff were very attentive and friendly and made us feel welcomed. We were seated fast and drinks served up soon after. Food was brilliant and delicious! We'll defiantly be coming back!

We booked a room at the Five Bells as we were attending a funeral in the area. We arrived prior to the check in time , our room was ready are we were checked in quickly. Our room was clean with a lovely hot drinks tray. We booked a table in the restaurant for evening meal. All the staff were lovely , although there was a wait for food, we were kept informed and all the food was excellent. We had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. The breakfast menu had a great choice , the eggs Benedict were perfect with plenty of hot coffee and fruit juice available. We would definitely stay again when visiting the area.

Old pub that has been reasonably modernised , now being under the auspices of the Village Inns chain.Large interior stretching back a long way with some cosy corners. Very quiet on our visit , a Friday afternoon so service was good. Very pleasant & friendly. Our drinks were reasonably priced by today's standards.Food was decent & their are dietary allowances for vegetarian, vegan & gluten free meals.Nice , Big car park & well maintained & clean toilets. You can also stay here.

Stopped for lunch at the five bells with a long distance friend of mine, couldn’t praise Michaela and Jodi enough for the quick service and Chef Lisa for the amazing food! I had the festive chicken burger for my meal and was cooked perfectly by the kitchen team! I couldn’t praise this place enough and will definitely be back within the near future!

Popped into The Five Bells on the off chance there was a table free. Jodi the supervisor was so helpful and accommodating, finding us a table for 2 in the busy restaurant and checking back regularly to check every thing was fine. Food was lovely and the atmosphere was friendly and warm. Will definitely be going back to the Five Bells again for dinner.
