Blythman & Partners - Westerhope

Now formally complained to RCVSI first encountered the above veterinary company ……28th June 2022My foster cat had been with me a couple of weeks when he was hit by a car during the night.I took Hunter to my nearest vet in Westerhope (blythman and partners) I had to hand him over in the street as vets still weren’t allowing access post lockdown.I immediately paid for an x ray £300 on the street again and the only paperwork was my receipt from the card reader.The result of the X-ray showed that the nerves in both his back legs had been severed.I assumed that this lovely creature who’d been in my care temporarily would be euthanised.The vet told me they would transfer him to their animal hospital in Gosforth whereupon and unbeknown to me he was given further multiple X-rays (the results of which were never shared with me).They called me a day or two later and said they were putting him to sleep.I immediately went to say goodbye to him and was taken to a room full of empty cages and I saw Hunter lying in one of them with no blanket just a hard metal surface.He was completely spaced out and could not focus but I know he recognised my voice and lay his head on my arm where I tried to talk to him and reassure him.It was heartbreaking to watch him so frightened was he.I couldn’t stay and left in tears.The main question I posed to them was “Why if both of his back leg muscles were severed and irreparable, did you not euthanise him immediately instead of prolonging his pain and suffering unnecessarily “I never signed a contract and was given no results of the additional X-raysI called many times asking for a copy of my contract to no avail.

Absolutely shocking, took my rabbit in for a check up, told them I believe his teeth are hurting him on 4 seperate occasions, which on all 4 they said they’re fine. Recently he has not been eating due to the pain in his mouth, took him to another vet and they instantly said he needs 1 tooth taken out, and another filed down, and that they were shocked this wasn’t picked up by the Hillheads vet. Now because he hasn’t been eating due to the pain, he has developed Ileus.100% will be avoiding and telling family and friends to do the same, and will be looking to take legal action as currently my rabbit may not survive and is costing me up to £1000 (yes insurance will cover it, not the point).

Highly recommend Blythman Westerhope. I feel my pooch is very well looked after with her many issues and the staff are lovely.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!... This practice does NOT care for your pets welfare. They are only interested in the MONEY. My pet dog collapsed and died after having his teeth cleaned, this is a simple procedure. I was charged £377 for them to kill him. He had lovely clean teeth but what good are they to a dead dog. Would not use this practice ever again. If I could give a minus 5 star rating I would, but you are unable to so. I had to give them 1 star but undeservedly.

Amazing friendly staff and service had no issues at all always on hand for help inc email service with quick responses. Would never go anywhere else.

Very good vets who always go above and beyond. Hugely recommended.

Your experience here will highly depend if you are lucky and a caring person will look at your case! The staff changes every time you visit, no one stays for long in this practice, every time a new person and if your pet has a life time condition- good luck to you. Waiting time on arrival is far too long, a good standard booster is not available to them and overall experience is that they only want your money. They don’t even care to tell you how much the treatment cost and if there is more affordable option. Nasty surprise every time! A couple of times they included to the bill the medication I didn’t ask for, I would advise to ask for itemised prescription.Highly inexperienced vet (apprentice?) done the booster to my pup last time, half of the volume ended up on a floor and my pup got blamed for being too “viggly” . Only using them because they close to me.

You are all amazing.. thank you for your care of my Leo, even when the shop had shut you still had us sitting inside until you'd made sure my dog was stable, you played with him, made him feel at ease and you've answered the phone to me 1000 times when I've been worried. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my and Leo's hearts. Xxx
