Halfords Autocentre Stockport

Went to Green Lane this morning due to my car making a worrying noise. The manager Arian (not sure if I’ve spelt that right), was more than helpful. He’s gone out of his way to help me and was extremely polite and kind. So nice to see and restores faith in humanity.

very friendly & experienced staff. They managed to fit me in for a diagnostic check & kept me fully informed of what was wrong & how much it would cost.They also have good prices on combined servicing & MOT.

Handy place that replaced my tyre after a puncture.Close to the pyramid roundabout and off the motorway, so easy access.Doesn't seem overly busy as well.I was dealt with within a good timescale.

I would give 0 stars if I could! Do not go here. Quoted over £750 in repairs, took to another garage and they told us that nearly all of the problems identified were fine and didn’t need fixing and we only needed to pay £50 to fix a minor issue. Feel completely ripped off and so glad I got a second opinion. Lots of people I know have said the same thing. Avoid this place at all costs - they’re a big company and clearly have financial targets to hit so will do whatever they can to take your money. I will never go here again.

Booked my van in for tracking and apparently they couldn't do it Because it was a lowered van and they couldn't get it on the ramp. Since ringing another garage, who I normally use they have said what they are saying is ridiculous, just the job is more difficult. Booked a day off work plus its cost me 20 pounds in taxis as well. There answer to the problem try another garage, ironically another Halfords. You'll get your refund though. Absolute jokers.

Rude, grumpy staff. No commitment to help customers. First I didn’t like Halfords but now I hate them. I was booked in but when turned up there was no booking. Receptionist was reluctant to help and refused to inspect the car. No consideration of contacting the warranty company and just refused on assumption. Pathetic behaviour and they are just bunch of slackers at the garage

My car has been booked in for weeks at this garage for its MOT. Booked in a week or so before due date so i could repair if necessary. I got there on time, for them to tell me they have no MOTer on site today. Didn't even bother to ring me. Now I can't get it booked in before my due date due to their failure to organise their staff properly. Will definitely not be returning to this garage.

SCAMMERS!! do not bring your car, i only came here because they were available and every other decent garage was booked no wonder why they had availability every dayI got my oil changed from these guys because i was going on a road trip to france they rang me i picked up my car that following day somewhere in france i get a OIL WARNING LIGHT telling me to add oil before driving i wasn't near any garage or petrol station so i had to call for help and wait for recovery as i dident want to risk burning out my engine they they then added 2 litters of oil and when i told them i had it done couple of days ago they laughed and said they must have put half a bottle or something you guys are a joke ! Your messing with peoples lifes if you cant do something the right they dont do it

Pros: The staff were very nice, polite, no issues like others have had.Cons: I took my car for a full service (£184) and they said that I needed all my brake discs and pads changing and that my car was unsafe to drive. That along with wheel alignment, fuel efficiency pack, brake fluid and spark plugs would add £850 on top of what I had already paid. The brakes alone were quoted to be £630.Not wanting to get ripped off I shopped around, got my brakes rechecked by a friend and a local garage in Stockport, both of whom said there was nothing wrong with my brakes at all. Be careful going to this Halfords especially if you're not car savvy, otherwise you might end up getting charged a lot of money for pointless work.Was told by the other garage to come back closer to my MOT for a free brake check as my brakes would be fine for months.

Don’t bring you car here !!!!I booked in for a full service and fuel filter changeWish I had notI was told to come and collect the car and once I got there they said they could not do the fuel filter oh and so sorry I spilt oil all over the engine but no worries I placed sawdust all over the engine to clear it up . Which we all know is a no no . I was then told that it was ok to drive and I would see white smoke come out of engine and a burning oil smell but it was ok !!!I have a daughter with bad lung condition and her consultant said it was dangerousI have now been told that the saw dust could of set fire and it was dangerous to drive .I made a complaint but that has got us no where , I have been offered for them to fix the problem but no refund or refund for the taxis I have had to get as I can’t use the car . And basically if I want more I would have to take them to court .I have now contacted trading standards and we have processed a small claims court order as I feel Halfords don’t care about what has happened and only want your money .I will be going to the papers too as I feel it is disrespectful and not on that they can say they are at fault but no refund is allowed . The full service was not even done in the first placePlease stay clear of here and book somewhere else
