Yorkshire Blinds & Curtains
Really unhappy with this company. Ordered 3 shutter blinds in November 2022 told upto a 16 week wait. Called up a few times in between to ask about progress, where I was told problem with manufacturers sourcing parts. I was then called by the lady from the shop who said there was another delay and is now going to be longer due to manufacture again. 17 weeks later I call to be told by a different member of staff the blinds have not even been ordered.Not happy with the customer service and the waste of my time.

This company are a nightmare. We wanted to use a small business to fit the blinds to our newbuild.When in the showroom, choosing blinds we wanted rollers in the children’s bedrooms but were adamant we didn’t want any sort of cord. We were reassured by John the owner that the rollers used were fitted with a mechanism where the whole device dropped out should an accident occur. As a result we ordered and had corded rollers fitted in our home. We had also ordered romans, and like others have said (check out their google reviews, I wish we had done!) were greeted with a barage of excuses for their delay but 3 weeks after moving and the initial fitting, a lovely chap came to fit the Romans. As he described their safety features, i said “oh so similar to the rollers” and he looked surprised, saying the rollers only come with cord snap safety (something we said we didn’t want to rely on). John was contacted and stated we were obviously wrong and completely denied the conversation! He agreed to take the 2 blinds away (kids room) and put a different mechanism on (like the ikea ones). The blinds were refitted but the white blinds returned covered in mucky finger marks. I was then contacted on instagram following a comment i had made in response to the social media commenting on my home account, and was reassured my concerns would be looked into (I knew they wouldn’t as it was the owner who had dealt with us!!) and a few days later, received a very curt email and instagram message telling me I was wrong- we weren’t. Poor service after sale, poor communication and the manager doesn’t accept responsibility for errors. We won’t be returning and I’ll not be recommending. Sad to post a negative review on a small business but the safety concerns this massive oversight caused could be prevented for someone else.Further additional following Johns response to my google review:We are not stupid, we were given incorrect information. The Saturday fitting was offered by John as he couldn’t facilitate the Friday we wanted despite having several weeks notice.In respect of the ikea style fitting, I meant the retractable mechanism, this wasn’t a slight on the quality albeit the blind in our front bedroom repeatedly sticks and the ikea ones we had previously did this too so the mechanics are likely very similar.It is sad that instead of acknowledging responsibility, John came back with a very defensive response but to be honest, this review wouldn’t exist had the company accepted responsibility and offered better service.Further update after 9 months of trying to get our blinds sorted:John, after several communications with my husband where he denied even installing the blinds, sent his colleague to assess and make any repairs.His “head installer” came and was huffing and puffing, and admitted he was frustrated by John and how he manages situations where customers are unhappy. He said the fabric on our roller blinds was incorrect for rollers and we shouldn’t have been advised to get it. It was John who helped us pick our fabrics!He then said the springs in the childrens roller blinds would need replacement and eventually agreed to replace it in one of them, however in doing so has scratched our sons wall. The kitchen blind that wasn’t going up correctly, we were told the bar wasn’t straight at the bottom but because they’re hand made, these margins for error are allowed but it should have been looked at on installation: they were installed by John!He then left and said he would speak to John about replacing the fabrics as the corded rollers will continue to malfunction.My husband chased up via email today and was told this wasn’t correct and it was how we were using the blinds that was the issue and the only reason the spring was changed was to placate me. I’ve never known a company be so rude and frankly useless! These blinds were far from cheap and hilariously an Ikea roller blind my husband fitted at my mums has lasted longer than these so called bespoke, professionally fitted ones. DO NOT USE!!!

Really pleased with the overall service & quality of the product, very pleasant & polite people to do business with & really pleased with the curtains & track supplied. They are a very busy firm & occasionally couldn't contact them, but they always responded to any phone messages left for them. Would definitely use them again.

They helped us when another supplier wouldn't but it has been, and remains, a struggle. The makers didn't agree with the material quantity so we had to pay extra and then, a week after the curtains should have been ready, we were told that the fabric wasn't available. Cue another three week wait. The curtains were hung by their fitter but wouldn't operate requiring a further two visits to sort them out. Now it is clear that one curtain is shorter than the other (see photo) and I have been waiting two weeks and counting to find out what they are going to do about it. Add into the mix that I have several times requested a fabric sample for a further two pairs of curtains which have been measured, made and hung by a local competitor while I still wait for the sample from Yorkshire B&C. Nice people, for sure, but very poor performance. You can do better.

Horrible experience would not recommend at all! Quoted 3 weeks to get 6 blinds, took half of the money from us quick enough but getting the blinds was not quick at all. It’s been 10 weeks, 3x times as long as they quoted us and still not got all the blinds, missing the main 4 we wanted. Called every week for an update, no one ever called back, left messages if no one answered no call back, never advised how long the delay would be or that there was one to begin with. The blinds we did get they doubled the order for one in error so had to make sure we weren’t charged for their mistake, terrible customer service, never once did they call to advise any delays and they would always ‘call the manufacturer for an update’ and never call back. I would ring back on a Monday and be advised there had been no one looking into it from the last Monday I called, just shocking customer service considering the amount of money I was paying and the deposit I had to pay up front. Best advise look somewhere else! And to a company that will have the curtesy to advise you when there’s a delay and not have you calling 2/3 times a week! They were quick enough to give us our money back when we told them we were cancelling which just makes me think they never even bothered with my orderTo clarify - no refund was offered to us, no contact from the company to advise of delays, no actual explanation of what the delay was or a realistic timeline of when we might get our product. We cancelled the order and we demanded a refund

The curtains and blinds go perfectly with my room and the finish product really completes and compliments the whole living space. All staff involved were a pleasure to deal with. Have used Yorkshire Blinds many times, also used them for our daughters house, several times, then it would have been 5 stars!!Big shame but this time I wanted replacement blinds for our Barn window. Measuring seemed half hearted, total lack of information! In the past we have always had them fitted, we understood this would still be the case, not so, was presented with the blinds and told fitting was up to us. Chains were also not provided. I felt like this time we had to do all the legwork, I wanted to pay deposit on ordering, young man said I had to go to the shop to pay. Expected to pay full amount on fitting, but again had to trail to the shop just to collect. Now I will have to find someone to fit the blinds as we cannot.Could have done all this cheaper on line.Lesson learnt, would not recommend.

What a pair of curtains we have. Both the curtains and the pole are made to measure. Relaxed and professional service from start to finish. We havent seen this pattern anywhere else! They are the highlight of the room!
