I have worked at Barton now for over 7 years and find it a great place to work, both young people and staff are encouraged to reach their full potential. The safeguarding and interests of the young people are of paramount importance.Staff thoroughly enjoy their role which is evident in their achievements with the young people and feedback from families who have full involvement in their child's care. This is a thoroughly rewarding career and a positive place for both young people and staff.

Will sell you the dream package for potential service users, but in my experience the service they get is nothing like the pitch. Staff are handicapped by the attitude of thise in charge! That continually think that running with minimum staffing and resources for periods of years is adequate. Many times it has been borderline dangerous for staff and children there and the management delude themselves into thinking that the children/staff are safe and happy. Be warned

I have worked for Options Barton for over 7 years, what has made me stay so long? The young people I work with and my team around me, the children are well cared for and their individual needs are catered for here at Barton. It is a very rewarding job and I myself have developed and grown as a person with the support of the management team around me, the rewards are massive when I look back and see how the children have developed in to lovely adults who have achieved so much. The downside of the job is when they leave to transition to adults and leave us, they are all a joy and pleasure to work with and I count myself lucky to have been part of their time at Barton.

Fantastic place to work, I have been fully supported to develop from a residential support worker to the position of House Manager. Amazing children and young people to work with a varied and rewarding career.

As a former employee of over three years I feel like I am in good position to write an honest and accurate review of Options Barton. Firstly, I must highlight the incompetence of those at management level with Graham Norris (Head of Service) being the most incompetent of all. I have witnessed staff being placed in dangerous situations without the requisite training and support which has resulted in staff sustaining numerous injuries. Staff are not provided with adaquate training and are therefore illequipped to deal with the magnitude of complexities which many of the students have. It is also worth noting that despite Options claims to be a specialist provider of schooling and care facilities to children with a range of needs; the reality is that young peoples future at the establishment is based solely on how much money they will make the company. The facilities are poor and the attitude of those at management level, even poorer! Staff are paid pittance to deliver highly specialised care and education to young people with a range of difficulties, whilst management sit in their offices and shop for new Audi’s and BMW’s.

You would be better off putting the children in a prison. Absolutely dire service.
