Budget Car Rental Belfast City Airport

Word to the wise, be careful with this company. I was taken advantage of. Told I needed to provide a credit card for a temporary hold" that would not be charged. Turned out they added all kinds of extra fees. The "screen" they display the contract on before you sign is tiny and makes it very difficult if not impossible to read. What they say may not be what you are signing for. They ended up charging me 450$ more than what I prepaid for. I will never use Budget again in any country. Customer service was not helpful. A simple google search shows this type of situation happens to people all the time. Shady company

I booked a car with my BA flight. The appropriate paperwork was completed including DVLA license code. The paperwork contained my date of birth. I then registered and obtained Budget Quick Pass. When I went to collect my car at the Budget desk I was told that as I was 79 years of age I had to provide a doctors certificate and certificate of insurance, neither of which I had in my possession as there had been no mention of this requirement in the paperwork I had completed.Consequently I had to use taxis for the duration of my visit. It seems a ludicrous situation when I hold a full UK driving licence and drive my own car every day. Who should pay for my taxi hire for the period.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I was charged an extra 200 pounds for an extra days car hire when I was visiting my sick 95yr old mother last year and had to extend the hire by 1 day. More than the cost of the return flight to/from Heathrow. I've just returned from Belfast where my wife booked the flight and the car hire by mistake with budget. She pre-paid 180 quid. They've charged my credit card 332 quid. Look at the rest of the reviews below and use another company instead. Regards to Katie Stitt. Enjoy your bonus.

Overall good experience, car was nice and clean and we had no issues at all with it. Gentlemen at the kiosk in the airport friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was Budget not making it clear to us that the credit card had to be in the name of the lead driver. Eventually found it hidden away in the local T&Cs not prominently displayed as you’d expect. Despite bringing all the documents they asked for in the email, proof of address’s etc., which weren’t even asked for, it resulted in an extra £102 charge to somehow waive the issue and let us on our way. Would still used Budget again due to the ease and condition of the cars but just one to be aware of if you are booking with them.

Vey awful experience. I booked a car from 2 Aug to 5 Aug on Expedia. When I arrived at the car vendor at the airport, the lady refused to give me a car. I have a valid driving license that is legal to use in the uk. No need for other proof or permit. It is just the car company their own policy. Fair enough. I took it as my bad luck and took the bus to the city centre. The next day I booked a car with Enterprise and had no problem to collect it. ( I should have done that at the beginning)I choose Budget because of its name. But now I must warn anyone who wants to save money. The vendor lady who rejected my driving license promised me that I could ask for refund with Expedia because the car company didn't receive the money. After contacting Expedia for a whole month, they finally responded that they couldn't give me refund as the car company rejected my driving license. The car company and expedia are playing the game to abstain from responsibility. And I paid for the service I have never used. Then where is the money?The whole thing is a scam.don't even try that.pay more and get better service.Though it is exhausting, I will seek advice on customer rights and defend my rights to the end.

Very good, but would be advisable to let customers know that the gate code ( if returning the car to get an early flight) is in the top right corner of the windscreen.

SCAMMERS- all the negative reviews on here are correct. I prepaid for my booking including the extras i did and did not want. Upon arrival at the airport you are told that they will take money from your credit card as a hold and for fuel deposit. The fuel deposit was released however the additional charges were not. Informed that because I have signed their documents there’s nothing I can do about it. I clearly stated at the desk I did not want anything additional. Absolutely avoid this company I have been ripped off over a Hyundai i10 for a few days. READ the negative reviews, what’s left of the ones they delete.

When another company I had a reservation with ran out of automatic cars, the Budget counter next door came through! The man helping me was incredibly nice and helped get my rental sorted. I was so appreciative that they were able to help me out. The car I had was brand new and really nice. I’d never rented from Budget before so this was a really great first experience.

Absolulty shocking customer service. Do not rent off this company. Charged me over £250 for a tyre didn't even inform me that they were taking the money off the credit card
