The service was friendly. Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with the dishes we ordered. The lamb shank was lukewarm, with potato purée on the side but nothing more. The seafood pasta was basically a small portion of pasta with mussels and 2 prawns swimming in soup. The dishes looked nice but tasted just ok. The portions were relatively small. We ended up having a second dinner in a restaurant nearby.

Really enjoyed the food here. Was presented well and tasted good. We had a brunch but I'll definitely go back and try an evening meal. Definitely worth a visit

I had the soup of the day. It was delicious. On the side crispy chicken tenders, was also really good, but on my taste the dressing was bit too sweet. But not so sweet that I wouldn't order it again! Customer service is also very friendly and welcoming. I'm definitely coming again!

Service was a little slow but it was worth the wait. One of the best if not the best cooked breakfasts I’ve ever had and I’ve been to many cafes all over Edinburgh and beyond. I had a few items removed that I didn’t like and the portion was still huge. Cooked perfectly and good quality ingredients. I even liked the potato scone which I thought I wasn’t going to.Very good price too.

Enjoyed broccoli soup and 5aday burger. Local beer was nice and very local. Reasonable priced as well. Very good service. Had returned already and probably will again.

Lovely veggie burger for me and my husband enjoyed his fox burger, only reason it's not 5 star is we had to pay for a portion of chips. As the burgers were between £12 & £15 I expected the chips to be included.

Extremely disappointed with our experience at The Urban Fox. We came here before going to a concert nearby. We gave ourselves 1 hr 15 minutes to eat before we had to leave for the concert, which we thought would be plenty of time - oh how wrong we were. We were very relieved to find a restaurant that was celiac friendly as one member of our party has a severe gluten allergy - the staff assured us there was different cooking preparations so he would be fine. The atmosphere was lovely and our servers were great. We were carried away in conversation that we didn't really notice until about 45 minutes in our food had not arrived... we asked and said we only had about 25 minutes before we needed to start getting ready to leave and they said oh it won't be long." So we waited another 15 minutes and at this rate we would have to completely scarf down the food we ordered.. still no food showed up. We asked again and the server apologised and said I promise soon. It got to 5 minutes before we had to leave and we got up and said we would pay for our drinks but this was ridiculous so we need to go. The server ran downstairs and packed up whatever was ready for us in to-go containers (only about 50% of the food we ordered) - I felt really bad so left them £10 to thank them for packing some of our food

Lunch today was a disaster. Waited 30 minutes after ordering, almost at the point of asking if they had forgotten us when the waiter came and apologised - they had no taco shells so couldn’t make what we had ordered. Had to reselect. Took the same time again to arrive. Dishes were not as described on the menu. My £9 small plate of chicken tenders consisted of two measly strips of battered chicken. My sisters “sour dough” toast was a slice of cheap supermarket white bread barely toasted, with processed smashed avocado and an egg, for £11. I think the kitchen was out of food and they were cobbling together whatever they had. We left hungry and what was supposed to be a quick lunch turned into hours of wasted time. They didn’t charge for the avocado dish but the bill was still extortionate for what we were served. The empty apologies were the worst part.
