Westmoor Farm Fishery

Got the midweek 48hr deal with my mate with two evening meals, a breakfast and 5kg of particle included. This was our first time fishing here and we fished Lee's swim. I arrived late and after quickly setting up 2 out of 3 rods I caught an 18lb common almost immediately! I wasn't expecting to really catch due to the time of year and the fact that I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to specimen carp. The food was great, my bivvy was toasty as we opted for electric (£5 pp/night). The food was great, served hot and the breakfast was exactly what I needed however after being blighted by bream in the early hours (the only reason I didn't give S&R 5 stars as we caught nearly 20 between us). The bottom was clear of weed, there were plenty of fish showing. My friend caught a 20lb mirror on the second morning just before breakfast and I rounded the session off with a 14.7lb common just before wrapping up. Staff were friendly, swims are tidy and I loved the plaques mapping out the swim contours. (Saved a lot of time leading about and did wonders for our confidence that we were fishing as best we could) and the 3 fish we caught were top quality. We didn't have many carp runs between us but I'd have put it down to the time of year - I'm looking forward to coming back in the warmer months next season. Great venue.

Booked on for 4 days from 29th July. Wasn't tokd at time of paying that they had an algae bloom in sandpit lake .After getting to swim there was a bad odour from the turquoise slick in the reeds .The high winds was just pushing the algae all over the lake ,didn't look good and bailiffs didn't seem bothered. Food was poor and not worth the expense.

First impressions of sandpit lake were good we were there for 4 nights 4 anglers with the food package but as we got closer to the water we noticed there was a real heavy algae bloom, actual pea soup in places and every time we reeled in you spent 10 mins on each rod cleaning the algae off the line. They had the pump running for the 4 nights we were there but it made no difference at all the algae bloom was as a bad when we left as when we got there in fact probably worse so basically we ended up camping as between the 4 of us we never had so much as a line bite, given that we have all at least 15 years each of experience and one angler is sponsored, Going by the conditions this is pretty much what we expected. We called Lee the boss of the lake to say that although it wasn’t his fault we didn’t actually get what we paid for but unfortunately the attitude was I’m not refunding you any of what you paid because you didn’t catch any fish, we have all managed to blank trips but he completely missed the point as this blank was guaranteed due to the level of algae bloom in the water during our whole stay. Really poor after sales tbh maybe could have had a little chat with us about this situation but chose to completely dismiss it. Bad experience all round.

Nice fish nice food but not very informative staff was mislead into thinking I was getting a deal that was advertised. More of a fish farm than a fishery. Seems very money orientated. Everyone fishing had to take photos and inform staff if it's over 18lb and have to take bream out met 2 bailiffs and where very arrogant please be careful when booking that your are not being misinformed and being conned into thinking your getting a deal will not be returning

We only started coming here this year and wow fantastic place we'll run and always willing to give advice been 5 times now. Getting out fished by my partner she really enjoys the fishing, plus an excellent food package which now include puddings for an additional payment Lee and Jack and their team always around for help.
