York Hospital Emergency Room

The receptionist was very helpful, friendly, patient and careful. I waited in the hospital to see the doctor for an urgent about 4 hours. And the average of waiting is 2.5 hours, and i cannot book an appointment for my situation. Which make it very bad experience, and it seems that the management of the hospital is absolutely ridiculous. The doctor was nice, but he was trying to finish as early as possible. He made some mistakes in a letter about my situation, but overall, he was alright. I will never come again to the hospital, except if i don’t have a choice. And i prefer to book an appointment with unity health, since they have much better service.

My grandma had to endure an 8+ hour wait on her own after having a stroke - “act fast, it’s time to call 999” we acted fast but unfortunately they didn’t and she later passed away.No sense of urgency in this a&e, lack of care. Not sure why SOME of the nurses are in the positions they’re in when they show little or no care.Covid is used as an excuse all the time and is massively over used, their pay is used as an excuse, lack of staff - another excuse. Constant excuses when in reality, nobody cares anymore about anybody. Sorry but you knew the wage before you took on the job and if you’re unhappy about what you’re being paid - leave, don’t neglect YOUR patients.NHS will eventually crash which is I think what this government is wanting and when it does, hopefully their undeserving wages will go up and the staff will start caring again.Keep making your TikToks though and using your blue light discount, don’t worry about the patients dying around you and waiting for a bed, just get those views up!

A 10 hour wait for A&E.There was an old man that had a STROKE and discharged himself because he had been waiting, without treatment for 6 hours. There was also a woman with a large chunk of flesh missing from her leg that was made to wait for 5 hours before being seen. The Nurses are unapologetic, rude and have no empathy for those under their care.Drive to a different hospital, you will receive better and quicker treatment.

While visiting from the United States, I fell ill after an asthma attack. Alone in York, I made my way to this hospital. I was treated with respect and the utmost care at every department. The medical staff did a thorough exam along with the necessary X-rays and tests, and I left with the medicine I needed as well as instructions for my doctor back home. This is an excellent health care facility.

I cannot fault the treatment I received last night.I was there for less than 3 hours and in that time saw a nurse and doctor, had bloods taken and tested and an Xray preformed. I also received a call the next day in good time. The staff where all kind and understanding. Thank you for all your help

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU NEED HELP.This is not care. It's neglect. My wife came here last night at 1am after being bent double with a stomach pain that she described as worse than giving birth"

Staff need to communicate with each other as whole set us was a bit of a shambles. One of the nurses blatantly didn't want to be there and took my blood pressure over my shirt and jumper. One poor old chap had been waiting since 6pm and only got seen after he asked at midnight-the way the reception staff were talking it sounded like they had forgotten about him.

11 hours. I waited 11 hours and was spoken to condescendingly and was somehow made to feel guilty for my circumstances. Extremely rude nurses and entirely unemotive doctors. I feel worse today after having no sleep and no treatment, due to my ordeal last night.When discharged, I still felt very unwell with the symptoms I came in with, and made it clear I did not feel well enough to walk. The nurse said I was just unwilling" to walk.I'm absolutely beside myself with the way I was mistreated.I would suggest avoiding this place
