I had the pleasure of having a second coaching 14 years apart and I wasn't disappointed.I have not fished for nearly 2 years and I wanted to catch up with todays methods.Ian covered everything from set up to casting rig tying several different one that I had never used.Feature finding was amazing. Also caught a few fish.I am now thanks to Ian very confident it what I was taught.I would recommend anyone who is just starting to book a lesson.We did 48hrs at tri lake in Yately the place is amazing. Ian was fantastic and the boys learnt so much and had a great time. We caught lots of fish on our first time with Ian, but the highlight was a Common Carp each. He has all the necessary equipment and so much knowledge and experience which he is brilliant at sharing and getting across.

Ian was a fantastic tutor today. I`ve not cast a rod for over ten years and was looking at getting back into carp fishing. Ian opened my eyes to the small errors I used to make and re wired my way of thinking about fishing. The eye to detail was a steep but great learning curve, Above all Ian made me feel relaxed from the moment we met at the venue, I would reccomend his immesne expertise to anyone, whatever level you may think you are as an angler, One day spent on the bank with an expert is worth years of trying by yourself,Thanks again Ian for a great day....shame about the jokes :)

Well what can I say. Can't recommend Ian enough. The venue was brilliant, the coaching is second to none and to top it all the man that organized and coached me is one of the nicest people I've met.I contacted Ian through his website and manged to organize a short session. I didn't know what to expect but as soon as I turned up Ian was brilliant. We got talking and I instantly felt the passion he has for angling and also his passion for helping others. Ian's well thought out plan for the day was excellent. Everything he set out was absolutely perfect. The confidence and knowledge he has gave me is above and beyond.I have already got back and recommended Smart Carping to a number of close friends. You won't be disappointed.I can't thank Ian enough for how he has helped me in my angling. Thank you Ian, wish you all the best in the future and hope to bump into again one day. Your a legend.

My youngest, Will, had a day with Ian at Willow Park Fishery. Ian was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and personable. He established a great rapport with Will who thoroughly enjoyed the day, especially catching his first carp weighing 6.8 lbs. Strongly recommended

Both myself and my son aged 10 had a fantastic day’s introduction to fishing. Ian has a great knowledge of lots of beautiful venues to fish at. He brings all the gear, and lots of it plus the bait. He carefully chose an appropriate venue to suit our level and we had a beautiful spot. The fishery was full of roach and small to decent sized carp - perfect for us beginners! My son caught a 10lb Carp on a pole with maggots on his first attempt, he was so happy, it made his day and has a picture to remember it. We caught so many we lost count. We learnt the very basics, from safety, tackle, bait, traps and rods. We can't recommend Ian highly enough, he is extremely professional, friendly, encouraging, ever so patient and made it all so much fun! We both can't stop talking about the day. We feel so much more confident and can't wait to get back out fishing on our own. What's also great, Ian is more than happy to be contacted after the coaching session. If we ever need further support, he's more than happy to be available on an email or over the phone. We both had a fantastic memorable day! We will definitely back for more!

Without doubt that was the best investment I have made in my fishing in nearly 50 years. What Ian doesn’t know about fishing probably isn’t worth knowing. I can now make much far better use of all the expenses gear and bait I bought over many years. The last time I picked up a rod was 45 years ago & that wasn't very successful! I wanted to get back into fishing but had no tackle & no real idea what to do.Searching the internet I came across Smart Carping's website. I called & spoke to Ian who was extremely helpful.Earlier this week I booked 2 full days where I was taught so much & both extremely enjoyable...Angling has certainly changed!Ian organised 2 completely different days out on different venues. The first was focused on larger fewer fish & the second match fishing style bringing the fish into the swim & catching in abundance. On this trip Ian was joined by another Smart Carping Coach John as there was myself & another client David.In no time we were both catching whilst other Anglers on the Lake went quiet.During the day I caught (with a lot of help & patience from John) 70+ fish, predominantly Carp to 10lbs with David catching like with Ian.Thank you guys so much...I'LL BE BACK FOR MORE!

My children had an amazing day with Ian yesterday. He was very patient, calm and super knowledgeable. We appreciate how thoughtful he was with all the fish, the environment and the people around him. I also like how organised he is with all his paperwork, including safety measurements and he has got the neatest set of angling equipment.
