UPDATE 12/07/22: As requested, I emailed the address included in the response from Ackroyd Legal on 11/05/22 and still have yet to receive a response. This has become beyond a joke now, and is completely unacceptable. It seems the rebrand hasn’t improved the service. Shocking.My partner and I used David Ebert LLP (now Ackroyd Legal) back in 2020. We completed on our flat sale and house purchase in November 2020. It has been 18 months of countless e-mails and we have still yet to receive any paperwork whatsoever, including the title deeds. Thankfully, I have managed to check land registry to confirm that the house is in our name, but otherwise we have zero paperwork to inform us of the property and boundaries.Our solicitor upped and left the day after our completion, and we weren’t informed of this until we chased our missing documents a month later. We were then reassured that we would be contacted in due course. We didn’t hear anything at all.I have chased David Ebert countless times, even receiving a response from a lady named Natalie when they had changed over to Ackroyd Legal who assured me that someone was looking into my complaint and would get back to me ASAP. This was on the 17th September 2021 and still we haven’t been contacted by any means.I’d advise everyone and anyone against using this company, regardless of the name they are working under. I am extremely disappointed, frustrated and tired with absolutely zero faith that we will ever solve this issue although I will not give up trying until we have the paperwork that is rightfully ours.

I don’t feel I had good service and would not recommend this firm. They drew up the wills for my late father and his wife, and when his wife passed away my father appointed them to handle her estate. It was a straightforward transfer of her assets to my father and my father made it clear from the outset that he wanted it completed as soon as possible. Although it was Covid there were unacceptable delays and it was a huge cause of stress to my father who by then was ill himself. Despite writing to say they were now going to get on with the main administration of the estate 6 months passed with absolutely no action and it was not until a chaser letter was written that things started moving again, commencing with a further invoice of course. It was very frustrating to be changed for every telephone call, email or letter and my father passed away more than 2 years after his wife and still the estate administration had not been completed. I ended up taking on the final two tasks myself so we could finish with Ackroyd as soon as possible.

I am not a client with them but I am purchasing a property and the seller is using them. They have been incredibly unhelpful and very vague with their answers to our queries. The only information you get is what the seller themselves can provide. They will not look into queries and take action if the seller does not have or know the information (which happens as we are not experts in this, they are!). I would not recommend them and feel bad that the seller is wasting their time and money on them.Update: they can't even exchange contracts on the phone within the same day after talking to their client! Honestly stay clear! I also read on glass doors that they make their employees write fake 5 star reviews! Please be aware of these ppl!

We used David Ebert LLP, trading as Ackroyd Legal, for our flat purchase, and we're really pleased with the service we received.The whole process ended up taking longer than we initially expected, but we later found out it was mainly due to the seller's solicitors. There were times when we felt a bit in the dark about how the whole thing was progressing, and that's our only gripe. It would be a great improvement if they had an app or a service that allowed customers like us to track the progress.However, whenever I made a call, Agnieszka and Ken were quick to answer or call me back if they weren't available.All in all, I would definitely recommend them.Orhan and Krzysztof

Used for selling my late Mum's house.Probate sorted years ago, now time to sell.One Conveyancer there started my case, and I had to PUSH PUSH PUSH / CALL / EMAIL - A LOT (Can you tell by the capitals?)Then a different woman conveyancer got involved, and she was 100% the best thing that ever happened.She was proactive, courteous, took calls, even chased me for things. Since Laura was put on my case literally everything started moving - she was an absolutely incredible.A lot of solicitors do work at their own pace it seems, however Laura was an exception. I'd have no hesitation in using Laura again whatsoever.

UPDATE: This is still outstanding!! One of my friend has also told me Ackroyd's were chosen first as solicitors and almost everything ended up collapsing because of the way they manage or rather not manage and sit on things. My friend made the right decision in time to go elsewhere. I have moved in almost two months ago and papers are still not sorted... That kinda sums up the bunch you deal with.Rubbish, just can't get a response out of them. 15 days after completion of purchase and management company has still not received presales paper proving ownership. Where did they even send it? Without this, I cannot get in touch with them. I have 30 days to do this from completion, otherwise I get charged. 15 days have already passed. So what now?!?UPDATE: 10 months into living at new place, I'm still getting chased by management company that my solicitor did not settle service charges. I have chased them many times about this before, I was always told the money has been sent over..

I have just exchanged contracts and I am compelled to write a review. My husband and I said there was no other word except for ‘exceptional’ to describe these guys. Agnieszka works quietly hard to get things done within a reasonable timeframe, in fact, for us, she has got it done much quicker than expected (within 10 weeks). She communicated well with our mortgage broker along the way. We met with Ken Flook last week and he was a character we will never forget and wish we knew outside of work! He is just fabulous! His wicked sense of humour, his honesty, his local knowledge was both outstanding and fascinating, and we left here feeling like we had gained a friend as well as a house. Sounds odd, but you need to meet him! An absolute legend. He also said they do a lot for the Polish community by way of a legal service. A really competitive rate, too! Just brilliant, 1000% recommend!!

A few days ago this company helped me buy a house.Very friendly and responsible team and also do their job very well and professionally.I advise you to contact this company.

Total incompetence. When a solicitor goes on compassionate leave they put a junior in place that is totally out of their depth and painfully slow. Ordered monies to wrong place and just does not comprehend the urgency. Less than two days to agreed completion when removals are booked, will not even take calls from the other two solicitors in the chain. Avoid this firm they are not up to the job.
