About the Business

North Walsham: St Nicholas - A Church Near You | Norfolk's largest wool church - seeking to weave faith, hope and love throughout our community. Sign up for our e-NEWs here. Welcome to St Nicholas’ Church in the heart of North Walsham. For centuries people have worshipped on this site. They have come for joyful and sad times, for baptisms (christenings), weddings and funerals. They have come for the major festivals of the church at Easter and Christmas. They have silently slipped in, prayed and slipped out again during the course of a day. They have gathered Sunday by Sunday to celebrate the resurrection and the good news of Jesus Christ. All are welcome. YOU are welcome! Inclusion Statement: We aspire to be a welcoming, inclusive and affirming Christian community, built on the understanding that God loves and accepts us equally, irrespective of gender, sexuality, race, culture, social standing, belief, age or ability - and believing that God calls us equally to share that unconditional love with all people, without exception (adopted by PCC Feb 2023). Blessings for marriages held elsewhere can be held in church , and we welcome ALL people who wish to celebrate these. Prayers of thanksgiving, dedication and asking for God’s blessing for same-sex couples can be held in church from 17th December 2023. The Church is open daily for visitors and for prayer 9am - 4pm. Many of our services are live-streamed to YouTube - search 'St Nicholas North Walsham.' Our church office phone (01692 408971) is checked daily, so please do leave a message if you need to speak to someone. You can also find clergy contact details here.

St Nicholas' Church
A very large church right in the heart of North Walsham. Excellent church leaflet detailing points of interest, and also an audio trail. Huge font cover which the leaflet says telescopes - would like to see that. At the top a 'pelican' - or an artist's impression of one - not the only one in Norfolk. Clearly a well used church.

A cool, calm oasis in the busy goings-on in the centre of this market town. You can sit and reflect on life in the church or on one of the benches in its splendid grounds. The church has watched it's townspeople going about their daily business for hundreds of years. It's walls could doubtless tell some interesting tales.

Magestic almighty Church and today's Autumn Fair was an absolute success. Praise to all the volunteers who put on such a wonderous event for the best of causes, a credit to our lovely community. Thank you! Sue & Tony from North Walsham.

Lovely to see this church open and in use for the community. Lovely stained glass windows and the pews are a delight. The memorials to WWI & II are poignant.Felt very peaceful.

We visited with our local beaver scout group recently. Really friendly and interesting church to visit. Have been in previous years where the vicar would take us round and talk to the children about different aspects and history of the church. Would definitely recommend visiting.Racoon (beaver scout leader).

A large old and imposing church hidden behind the market place, accesable through an alley in the main street. There are other access points but the alley is my favourite! Lots to see and well worth an extended visit.I would give it five stars but can't find any graffiti!

A typical Norfolk village church. Well kept grounds and a beautiful edifice. Parking can get a bit chaotic out in front when busy. It does host various events through the year, advertised locally.
