I had a private scan at week 7 that didn't show a heartbeat. On recommendation of the private clinic and my GP I got in touch with the EPU at Whipps Cross, who told me that if I don't have any symptoms they wouldn't see me and I have wasted my money as I don't know any more than before the scan. There is nothing they can do for me.I brought the private scan up during my first midwife appointment, stating that I'm really worried, feeling like my pregnancy symptoms have calmed down and feel really alone in this situation. Again I was told if I'm not in extreme pain or bleeding I can't be helped with my situation. I was advised I could pretend to be in pain and the EPU will see me.I have now found out at my 12 weeks scan that indeed I have a missed miscarriage. I know this had to happen medically and I understand that there was nothing the hospital could have done. But the emotional stress I am put under because nobody listened to me or wanted to help me is unbearable.I'm however very grateful for the doctors and nurses at the EPU who helped me after the miscarriage diagnosis. They were patient, helpful, caring and made me feel less alone and sad.

I had a bad experience at Whipps Cross Hospital Triage Area. I waited Six and a half hours to complete my check up. But the midwife (Isioma) took care of me. He is very helpful. Thank you so much isioma it helped to recover mentally faster and feel safer overall.

Midwives on the labour ward are full of empathy and understand the values of pregnant women in labour. They go above and beyond to keep women and babies safe.. the midwives on my stay went passed their break and lunch times and some even go above their stay to show care and empathy. They respond quick to emergencies and work very well together with other staff. Kyra, Shannon, Camilla delivered excellent service in the labour wards and lilac birthing centre.

I went in with Covid and can honestly say, hand on heart that service and treatment I received was amazing. For obvious I was put in a room on my own in the Labour ward & was tended to by the most helpful and friendly nurses and consultants. We must remember that the NHS is a free service and that these people risk their lives for us daily.. for the most these healthcare professionals care and when they care, it shows. If we treat them like human beings, they’ll treat us in the same way. 100% happy patient.

Can’t speak highly enough of the care we received at Whipps X in March ‘23. From the antenatal care right the way through to postnatal, the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The staff are kind, compassionate and reassuring - as ever my birth plan didn’t go to plan and I was terrified about the unplanned C section, but the staff were incredible - I felt listened to, informed, cared for and respected every step of the way. The postnatal breastfeeding support continues to be excellent too. We weren’t sure which hospital to chose initially in the area and are so happy we made this choice. Thank you Mulberry Ward ladies and Barbara who supported post-surgery in recovery dept too!

Let me preface this by saying this review is about 1 midwife is particular. Denise who works in the triage, one day she is going kill someone because of her extreme neglicence. She doesnt care and it comes across in her care. We went to the triage one night because my wife hadnt felt the baby move and they tell you COME IN IF YOU HAVENT FELT THE BABY MOVE!". We get her. For peace of mind we want to be hooked up to the heart rate monitor

I had incredibly wonderful service. The whole maternity unit: Triage >Mulbury ward> Labour unit are incredibly competent; they understand their roles and how to handle patients with problems, like me. Very impressed, and I want to thank you guys for saving my life.

Incredible care - from from start to 'finish'! I feel very lucky to have had my baby at Whipps. The staff on Lilac, labour & Mulberry wards were phenomenal, to put it lightly. We had a weeks stay in the end which gave me all the more time to appreciate the nuanced details of the service: wow! My only request is that funds are found to replace the toilet seats on Mulberry ward please!! Thank you to all the staff in the maternity & antenatal units, a special shout out to the cleaning and maintenance staff too who do a fab job keeping the hospital sparkly and shining... :)
