I usually have my work lunch at The Compass. I am a vegetarian and there is always a choice of freshly prepared veggie meal. The portions are decent and great value for money. I can't think of any other place in Bournemouth that serves full plate of home-made food for less than £4.00. It's definitely my favorite lunch spot!

Was here for the monthly Metropole Market on Holdenhurst Road, and stopped by for roast dinner.Really good value for money, and food was surprisingly good (roast turkey and trimmings).Good if you can accept this is a canteen approach, and self service table clearing.Lost two stars as the lemon cheesecake was sour, and when mentioned the staff didn't seem bothered, and refused to accept responsibility.Shame as everything else is pretty great, rare to find a roast for a fiver.

Some tasty food, but very overpriced in terms of the quite mean portions. Almost £3 for a 'mug' of soup; you must be joking.

Came from London to Bournemouth on a business trip and decided to have lunch at the Compass.I had a beautiful beef curry. Usually, generic restaurants like this tend to get curries too light in flavour and spices. Not the case here. The curry was rich, flavoursome and the right amount of spiciness. Incredibly good value for money too! Three people had a full meal for under £15!If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping for a bite. Staff is super friendly too. Only one regret: that I don't live and work close to this place. Will come back!
