Came in here for a quick drink yesterday afternoon. Great selection of drinks. Lots of seating available inside and outside. Might have had something to do with the torrential rain. Anyway lots of parking as well. Can't comment on the food as didn't have any. But I have friends or live close by who have been a few times and would just class it as above average and traditional pub food.

Food was lovely, and grateful for food being served on a Sunday. Good selection of beers. Staff friendly. Close to some lovely walks and stop for canoe/kayak goers. Atmosphere ruined on both nights by ?locals, playing loud awful music from their phones for every one else to hear. Generally rowdy and unpleasant people. Would not return if they were present and shame no one had a word.

What an absolutely fantastic hidden gem.. The new owners have really delivered. The food is 10 stars !! out of this world quality and taste at a great price. The staff are amazing and the whole ambiance of the place is fantastic. I highly recommend if you are are looking for a great place to eat and drink.

The weirdest place ever.Me and my boyfriend walked into the restaurant to book a table for later that evening. We were greeted by a man who pretended they didn’t work there for several minutes before finally letting us book a table….? We were instantly confused and put off about going back later that evening, but it was near our campsite and we couldn’t be bothered to drive anywhere else. The food was mediocre but the service was good, in fact the waitresses were absolutely lovely!Beer was good and the woman’s bathroom has the most hilariously ugly dog wall paper.Id go visit this place if you want to have a good laugh while having a wee.

Went with Great expectations, unfortunately these were not met. Sunday lunch was really disappointing, the beef was not edible, i couldn't even cut mine. Food took over an hour to come, then a further hour for desert (desert was nice). The waiting staff are trying their best but there were not enough of them for how busy it was.Drinks are very expensive. We were really looking forward to the play area but sadly it had lots of broken bits of toys & thorns poking through.

Stopped in for a drink while camping nearby. Really pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of local ales. The bar staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the Chef even made time to chat and make sure our youngest family members were enjoying themselves. Worth a visit!

Lovely refurbished traditional looking pub. Food was OK, the ribs were a bit tough but the steak and ale pie was good. Chips were suspiciously like the skin on frozen ones in Aldis Specially Selected bags. Would be nice if they were freshly made instead for such a traditional pub. Drinks selection was varied but very expensive for a country pub. £6.50 a Buxton IPA and £5.30 for a cask Butty Bach makes it one of the most expensive cask beers I've paid and that's coming from purchasing in Cheshire pubs! Service was plentiful with lots of pleasant staff.

These new owners are wonderful. Myself and my partner celebrated our 4 year anniversary there on Monday. Great service. Deliscious food. And we felt so welcomed. We will absolutely be returning.

Excellent service, friendly people and fabulous food. A delightful pub by the river Wye and close to the Hoarworthy circular walk. A good selection of gin beer and cider and soft drinks plus a varied menu that is delicious and came quickly (and all together) after our order was placed as a large group . It has the added plus of containing a small selection of household essentials in the small shop located inside the pub.
