Team Phoenix Martial Arts

Myself and a friend came for our first session on Muay Thai followed by shoot wrestling. Every single member in the place were nice, friendly and welcoming. The environment seems extremely supportive and easy to fit into straight away. Cant wait for next session evem though my body feels like its been hit by a train from the work out! I first arrived at Team Phoenix nearly 5 years ago looking for a new place to train martial arts, and I can honestly say I have found so much more than just a martial arts gym. The instructors and coaches are both incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their particular styles but they are also friendly and grounded. Because of their passion, the instructors are always training and learning as well as the students they teach and, despite their incredible breadth of knowledge and experience, they are the most humble and humorously self deprecating group of people I've met. As a result, you never feel like your question is stupid or that you’re not good enough because they set the example that all of us are there to learn and develop. The gym caters for numerous martial arts styles and if I had the time I would train each one. The teaching style is friendly and focussed on meeting each student’s own particular goals, whether that be to fight professionally, as some of the students do, to learn a new skill or simply to keep fit, lose a little weight and meet a few new people. Team Phoenix boasts an impressive venue with the largest training area I have seen and an excellent range of equipment for all of the styles taught there. Additionally, it has great facilities both male and female changing, WCs, a large area to warm up in while you wait for your class, and a few cosy seats to rest on in between. What really makes Team Phoenix however is the amazing atmosphere that's created by the instructors and coaches and reverberated through the students. The unofficial motto is; work hard, play hard and there is plenty of fun to join in with outside the gym. Since coming here I've met an amazing group of friends and had some fantastic times. I've exceeded my original goals and am setting new ones all the time and I couldn't be happier.

I have been a member for 2 years now, What can I say? A well run well managed friendly gym with instructors who are are both professional and well versed in their chosen subjects. Guest instructors such as Liam Harrison and Andy Thrasher who are world class in their fields, students who are all keen to learn in their chosen subjects. I have said it before on Facebook there is absolutely no need for anyone to be nervous or apprehensive about walking into Phoenix gym for the first time.

Comprehensive training in a number of martial arts in a friendly atmosphere delivered by excellent instructors. All levels of experience catered for and well worth a visit if you want to try martial arts, enhance your existing skills or just improve your fitness

Amazing place to train! Learnt so much there over the past 2-3 years, and enjoyed every second of it. Great bunch of people to train with and have a laugh with. Definitely come try it out!

Would highly recommend this place my kids love it here they've been doing ju-jitsu for a year now part of the reasons I think they've stuck at it so long is down to the other kids who attend they are all so friendly and help each other with all their training. All the staff are great with the kids from putting them at ease the moment they step on the mats to making it enjoyable and rewarding. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

I've trained with the instructors at Team Phoenix both privately and in group classes for years and the quality of instruction is second to none. Matthew Teasdale has a lifetime of experience and has travelled the world training and grading under some of the best instructors in the world, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

When i came over to Work in Newcastle a colleague of mine asked to check this place out. Quickly we became part of a big Family and it was one of the best times i had in my life. I learned much more in those meager 12 months than within the years i did Kung Fu in the past and i found good friends.I can highly recommend this place as you not only can learn about several martial arts but also to build up your personality and find like minded people.

Amazing place! I've been there 10 years now and everyone's just really friendly and helpful. The instructors there are brilliant, too. Not just at teaching but are also really friendly.Kids Jiu-Jitsu class is really good too, instructors there are great. Kids there are also really friendly and well behaved. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone. Ask any member there, they'll all say the same thing.

Trained here a few yeas back as I worked in Newcastle, friendly bunch of people wich welcomed a newbee. Took a lot out of th years. Highly recommended ...
