The warnings were at the top of the Menu Wanted: chef"!!Ambience: 5*; Service: 5*; Food: 2*; Prices: 1*; value for money - not great. A good place for people with loadsa dosh who are happy to accept passable food. 12.5 % service charge - whilst "discretionary" - is excessive."

The Bell & Crown
Our first meal at the Bell and Crown, and we’ll definitely be going back. Excellent food, exceptional service, and a lovely country pub ambience. We had four roast dinners today, Sunday, including two vegetarian options, and everyone enjoyed their food. Large portions meant it was a struggle finding room for a pudding, but we managed. Exceptional all round so best to book.

This is the best roast I have ever had. Lovely beef, homemade horseradish, plenty of everything 10/10. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Reasonable priced for the quality you receive. I asked for bill with no service charge please and the gentleman said of course madame I will remove. I will definitely be going again and recommending my friends to try. We'll done team.

First, the negative. It's a bit pricey, hence the loss of 1 star. But, to be fair, the food was good, very good. Proper thick gammon steaks, battered haddock with not a spot of grease, huge steak and stout pie, and juicy double cheese burger. Proper pub feel too, nice roaring open fire. Staff very friendly. Only visiting so unlikely to go again, but if I were more local, I'd definitely go back.

Basically my local, even though there are pubs more local to me. Great beers (their own pretty much - Rude Giant) , great food and above all a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Just feels right. A friend stayed in the rooms upstairs recently too and he was very happy. Quality decor, fixtures and fittings and a good, big, breakfast comprising of quality ingredients. The pizza on a Monday is up there with the best I've had as well and I've had pizza in Naples. Part of an excellent, small group of pubs that are all very similar in quality and service. Love the place.

I love the Bell & Crown, the food is always great, we had the steak this time, and all the staff are so welcoming, accommodating and lovely. We were there for a birthday treat and so many of the staff wished me happy birthday. Fab night

A superb Sunday Lunch. Beers by local Rude Giant Brewery. Excellent service. Very pleasant surroundings. Close to A303 major road and not far from Stourhead Estate (National Trust). Very busy when visited. Booking essential. Slightly disappointed by time restriction on table. Ask if you want longer.

Dinner of venison with a side of vegetables perfectly cooked and presented, followed by delicious Dorset apple cake with custard. A truly delicious meal brought to our table by charming staff. Excellent value for money.

I visited The Bell & Crown on Saturday 9 December 2023 in the early evening. I was with two other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the pub, which was easy and led me straight to the right place.I parked in the street just outside the pub - there is a small car park but it was full - that said, parking was easy.The pub comprises of a number of dining areas with plenty of tables with full table service. The restaurant was bright and clean.The team were incredibly friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.I enjoyed the cheeseburger for my main course and the sticky toffee sundae for my dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was reasonable value for money, I paid around £40 for two courses and drinks.Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and visit again.
