I write this from myself, my sister and my mum's partner and fiancee. This was a very difficult time for us and I cannot recommend Helen and her team highly enough. From the initial enquiry phone call, right the way through, we felt cared for, compassion for our situation and a great respect and care for my mum. We knew that Helen and her team were the right people to take care of my mum and to look after her and we were very reassured that she would do just that. Helen and her team are extremely approachable, and manage to combine friendliness with true professionalism and respect. Every member of staff was lovely and we were welcomed at any visit we made - mum's fiancee commented that everything was just so right for my mum and that she would have totally approved of it all. That brought him (and us) a tremendous amount of comfort. Plus, they make a fabulous cup of tea!

We chose Helen Horne Funeral Directors as a result of the many positive reviews on Google, and I'm so relieved that we did. They were communicative, compassionate, sympathetic, and didn't try to upsell us or anything like that which you may sometimes see in other funeral directors. Every single step of the process was accounted for and tailored to us and our individual needs, the celebrant they picked (Kirstie) was an absolute gem and could not have been sweeter, Helen, Jon, and Amelia truly took care of us throughout the entire process and let me take as much control as we wanted of what was happening (and it was clear that if we just hadn't been up to it they would've been completely competent at taking over and organising something lovely). The chapel of rest was gorgeous and so carefully curated, the decor was home-like (like the rest of the building, not at all sterile or gloomy) and at the time of my Dad being inside there was music he loved playing gently, with cloud decals on the ceiling as if you were looking up at a sunny sky. They also did a wonderful job at making him look like himself again, except a healthier version with a slightly fuller face which was very healing to see. We were able to bring him home the day before the funeral which meant so much to us, and as there was a significant length of time between the passing and funeral they did everything possible to keep him looking okay for coming home, which he did. We were able to do things such as have his photography as the background image to the order of service, choose the colours of the accessories of the staff on the day, choose where they would take us after the funeral (home or after-do), make a short stop at the house of my Dad's friend so he could see the coffin before we went to the funeral, get advice on where best to buy urns/memorial jewellery, etc, without being upsold or steered wrong, and so many other things that you just wouldn't get elsewhere. All in all, I'm so relieved we chose this business to care for him and for us. Thank you Helen for always being so on the ball, Thank you Jon for being so respectful and careful with my Dad's body, Thank you Amelia for your lovely personality and creativity, and Thank you to all the other staff who helped transport my Dad, we are so grateful.

Helen was recommended to us by a friend when my dad recently passed away and I couldn’t be more grateful and happy for this. The service and care from Helen, Christine and Amelia is second to none! Nothing was too much and they all treated him (and us) with such dignity and respect. I would highly recommend Helen Horne to any families going through a bereavement. It gave us such comfort that Dad was cared for and that the experience wasn’t like a conveyer belt, which is what we felt that we would have received from other, larger funeral directors. Helen and the team were incredibly sensitive to everything and so professional.I cannot thank you all enough for helping mum, me and the rest of my family through such a heartbreaking time.

Losing my beautiful Mum so unexpectedly and so suddenly was the most painful, devastating experience of my entire life. I didn’t know how I would cope without her; we were so very close. A close friend of mine recommended that I go and see Helen at Helen Horne and I bless the day that I did. The moment I entered the Funeral Home, I felt I was back in my Nan and Grandad’s living room, homely and comforting. When I met Helen, I could see why. She is the most genuine and caring person I have ever met. I knew instinctively that my Mum was in good hands. I felt as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Helen and her Team looked after me and my daughters, every step of the way and within our budget. I was able to sit with my mum in the Chapel of Rest which was beautifully decorated with soft lighting and soothing music. Even our Family Bassett Hound was welcomed. I felt calm and was left to spend as much time with Mum as I wanted. It was a very Spiritual and Peaceful experience. Meeting Helen in the way that I did, was ‘meant to be’. Helen walked us through every step of Mum’s funeral and never left our side. Her entire Team was there for us and still check up on us to make sure we are ok. I would never have thought that a funeral could be so peaceful and beautiful. Thank you, all of you, for everything. I will be eternally grateful for the way you all took care of me and my daughters and of course, the dignified way you all took care of our most precious ‘one of a kind’ Mum, Nan and Great Nan. We will be eternally grateful to you, your Family and your entire Team. God bless each and every one of you. xxx Sharon Sutton, Proud Daughter of Kathleen Mary Davenport.Helen - You made me remember that I am strong because a Strong Woman raised me.

From the first time that we arrived at the Funeral Home we were met with care and warmth both from Helen and John and the building itself. The room where we were welcomed was warm and cosy which helped us relax on such a sad occasion.Whilst being professional the staff were friendly and caring. When we went into the Chapel to see my husband, again the room was calming and comforting, the candles gave a warm glow. The actual funeral was well organised, respectful and just as I wished for.Written on behalf of Barbara Cleaveley and family

Dear Helen and teamI have so much to thank you for, we all do, as a family. You were the one and only call I made with a view to take care of our Dad for when the imminent time came. It came that same day much to our shock although not surprise. From the initial call with you and to saying goodbye to you at the end of our very unique service, you conducted yourself(selves) with extreme professionalism delivered in a friendly manner. It was like we had known you forever. We laughed with you when we discussed our plans for our Dads celebration day, we cried, and you provided us with much needed cups of tea and tissues.Helen, your care was exemplary and nothing was too much for you when I struggled so much with the shock of losing my lovely Dad.Thank you; thank you.

I would highly recommend Helen Horne. If is were possible I would give her 6 stars out of 5. She was so helpful, considerate and attentive to our wishes and gave us excellent advice all the way through what was a very difficult process for me and my family in planning my wife’s funeral. The ceremony went as well as I could possibly have expected and that was largely due to Helen and her team and also the celebrant Kirsty who works closely with Helen.
