The food is tasty and is good for the price but there are better options for Malaysian food in the area. The teh tarik was a little light and could have done with a richer flavour. The plastic cutlery is not ideal. This is hawker center style and if this is what you are after then it’s OK.

Authentic family run place. Great asian dish variety, fresh and fast service. Tasty, great price - sorted with a £10. Take away option, possible to mix/customise. Chicken and rice dishes consistently tasty.

The food here is really nice. You can choose multiple type of hot dishes with rice, fried style food, roti canai, malaysian dessert and also traditional malaysian drinks. They serve authentic malaysian cuisine. They also offer vegetarian options. The service here is efficient and the owner is really friendly. I would recommend this place to others.

Authentic Malaysian food but not as spicy. Good value for the price and the food were served piping hot. Thumbs up to that! We had mixed rice (ala chap fan), fried kueh teow, cekodok and chicken curry puffs. Teh tarik was decent altho not as kaw. Pompadam was crispy & delicious.A generally pleasant experience.

My family and I loved the nasi campur and the teh tarik (less sweet) very much - I ordered a second glass myself. Delicious Malaysian food is just what we needed after a few days away from home. It is halal of course☺️

Great tasty food. Meal sets are about £10 each. Our bill was £60 overall. Decent selection and states pretty authentic. Didn’t give it 5* as I’m a poor northern monkey who also lived in Asia and thought it would have been cheaper but this is central London.

Super casual, canteen-style Malaysian food. Good vibes all around, and very quick service. Ordered the Chicken Mee Goreng and was impressed by the quality of the meat. Good spot on Portobello Road for a chilled out lunch.

This is one of my favourite local halal spots in Portobello Road. Never disappoints. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Have tried all the dishes on the menu and recommend all of them. A must visit if you are ever in the area.

Makan restaurant is a halal place, and the location is great for those looking for rare deals in Portobello market. There are 2 eating area, which was originally from 2 different shops. The first internal deco was mixed Arabic and Asian. The only Malaysian icon that I can see was the wooden window frame on the mirror and a small Malaysian flag. All menu are truly Malaysian. More than 20 dishes for nasi campur (white rice with side dishes) to choose from, plus finger foods like cengkodok pisang, nuggets, popia and samosa. They’re all clean and kept in food warmers. We had white rice with ayam kicap and sayur bendi, as well as made to order yellow noodle seafood soup. Both were served hot, which was really good in winter. The soup portion was big with 5 deveined prawns. Both dishes costs £22 including a bottle of mineral water. I would say this is the most value for money eateries that I have been since we arrived London this trip.
