As a tour guide I regularly bring guests to Barrier View Cafe , they all enjoy eating delicious food with the spectacular view of the Churchill Barriers. The cakes and savoury snacks are tasty and freshly made , the staff are so helpful and always smiling. Highly recommended cafe, and the jewellery and crafts in the gallery are a real bonus and so tempting !

A lovely cafe and shop. Fantastic food at a reasonable price, amazing cakes. Good coffee. My toasted panini was loaded as was my sister's toastie.Beautiful shop and products, local artists and designers included.Views are also fantastic of the bay and south islands. Gorgeous location.Celina's jewellery is amazing.Highly recommended all round.

With regard to the food and the actual cafe those things are very good. With regard to the service...not so much. I understand that the day I was there it was very busy and yes, a notice said 'please be patient' however, after waiting for a good twenty minutes or more for two desserts and a coffee after everyone else at the table had been served their dessert, and, after one other person had asked about said dessert and coffee, I approached the counter and very politely, with a smile, asked AGAIN for the things we were waiting on. The girl was quite polite but apparently as I walked away from the counter my friend at the table noted she rolled her eyes at me. I find this rude and upsetting when we are paying good money for the food and the service. She had no reason to roll her eyes - if she can't be polite to the customers then she shouldn't be working in that environment. Sorry, but not impressed.

Good food, reasonably priced. The chicken and bacon sub special was a very good size with loads of chicken and bacon at £9.50 it was good value. The cheese and tomato toasties were good too. Cakes looked good although we didn’t indulge. The service was friendly and quick and we had a table on the mezzanine with a lovely view over Scapa flow and the Churchill barrier. The venue was clean and nicely decorated . The shop also sells handmade silver jewellery and other nice gifts too.

Best coffee we have had on our journey. So good i had 2.Staff were so helpful and made a salad from scratch due to my mum's cucumber allergy.Lovely food.

Fantastic place! We had coffee and cakes with a fabulous view of Scapa Flow. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was an excellent selection of cakes to choose from. We brought our little furry friend Ike who was helping us write a blog about our Orkney Adventure! Then a little look round the gift shop where my daughter and I treated ourselves to a couple of beautiful pieces of jewellery- mine is the Standing Stones necklace which has attracted lots of admiring comments! Pleased to hear that Celina has an online shop - definitely tempted to buy more!! Heartily recommended!!

Great location, with views of the bay where you can spot dolphins, and ample parking. The jewellery selection is lovely and the cafe excellent.Despite said cafe being heaving (we sat at one of only two free tables), we were served quickly and the food arrived promptly too.I had the Big Breakfast Roll, which I was expecting to have one of each of the items. (Sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding.) It ended up being two of each! A pleasant if filling surprise!

A beautiful selection of jewellery and other quality items, my better half was quite taken by the longboat inspired necklace with her birthstone set in it. Lovely helpful and friendly service. Highly recommended.

We ate here twice when on holiday in Orkney. A sign saying they were short-staffed was a little worrying. No need to be. We were served quickly by friendly efficient staff. The food was tasty and nicely presented. Surroundings were good and views excellent. Well worth a visit.
