Lochend Serviced Apartments
The apartment we stayed at was rancid, I don’t believe that it was cleaned before we got there. The walls, doors, toilet and bath panel are just some of the things damaged in the apartment. We were only allowed 1 small towel and 1 tea towel and the staff rudely told to clean them in the dirty washer dryer in the room. There was no bath mat either in or out of the bath so it was really dangerous to get in and out of the bath to use the shower. There was an ironing board in the cupboard but we couldn’t get it out as there was as a fold up bed in there that we couldn’t get out. They tried to charge £8 a day for parking and when we questioned it we were told that their website hadn’t been updated and eventually agreed to stand by no charge. When we got there it was a free for all with no monitoring but luckily we managed to get a space. I would never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Booked in for the night, got into our apartment and met with a strong smell of cleaning substance. Beds and linen were old, feet were filthy from the floors, linen also dirty, had to be moved apartments due to strong smell of gas which they knew about. Not good especially with kids being there. Staff very friendly though but will not be back.

Lochend Serviced Apartments
We had booked 2 apartments and on arrival went to the reception area to pick up keys. We were suprised to see a pigeon on the reception desk being fed! Straight away the guy on reception said we had only booked one apartment which was a concern. He then found our booking and realised we had two apartments booked. He said the second apartment was not near the first one and was a 5 min walk away. We dumped all of our bags in the closest apartment as we were in a rush and planned to collect our bags and find the second apartment later. When we returned we pi ked up our bags and headed in the direction he pointed in following his instructions to the second apartment. Number 139 was nowhere in sight, apartments where in the teens, we googled 139 and found it was in the opposite direction. We walked around and then finally found block 139 and went up to flat 4 as is written on the key. In opening the door we saw people in the apartment! We closed the door in shock. A girl came to the door and said she lives in this apartment!!! We went to reception and called the out of hours phone number. The guy from reception earlier answered and was very rude down the phone telling us to shut up and let him speak and that we were wrong. Once he actually listened to us he gave us instructions to get I to the office to find the correct key as he had given us the wrong one. There was no apology at all. On our return we have enquired about a refund/partial refund which was completely declined as he has said we should have checked the apartment earlier on, which to be honest is not something we should have to do to ensure that we have the accomdation we paid for. There was also no hot water from the taps. Awful experience and awful for the family whose key we were given. It must have been terrifying for them! Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

The apartment was lovely clean, well maintained, staff really friendly . The apartment had loads of extras such as cereals, tea , coffee and sugar ect. Fresh towels and the bedding was lovely and clean. Only problem we had were some of the other guests very noisy when coming in and out or walking the hallways in the early hours. The apartment is right on the main bus route so can easily catch a bus to anywhere around Edinburgh.

To start from the beginning, first thing first, the accommodation place wasn’t advertised on the road at all. We needed to make turn few times to find the proper enter,even if the lady mentioned me the name of the street. It was a bit difficult to find a spot in the parking but I have assumed that it was a busy period and that’s it. I would suggest that the elevator to be put a list with the corespondent apartments on each floor.Then, no one mentioned that the key locks weren’t fitted right and we stood about 10 minutes to figure it out how to open the door(upper lock we should’ve open it in the left direction and the lower lock in the left direction).About the accommodation,the photos below will talk from themselves… extremely dirty! I don’t think they prepared the apartment for guests at all: it wasn’t hoovered, the kitchen was full of grease, the sofa full of dog hair, because of the smell in the apartment we almost vomited. The bedding didn’t seemed clean at all, and also they’re filled with cigarettes smoke, no hand towels, and the extra beddings and duvets they’re on the floor.Then in the morning, before checkout hour, someone knocked insistent at the door, and a cleaning lady came in to take the spare bedding from the floor, for preparing another room perhaps….but the most shocking this about this was the fact that she pulled the duvet after her,on the dirty floors and then she settled it on the beds!So I know that many of you will say that you can not expect more for £135/night the hole apartment for 5 persons, but in my simple idea,shouldn’t be luxury or the lastest coolestthing in the accommodation as long it is clean and tidy!

Lochend Serviced Apartments
I have just spent 4 nights at the Lochend apartments with my son. When we arrived on Monday we were 1 hour early, no one in reception & I was worried when I saw the state of the reception area about what state the room would be in.After about 10 minutes we got our keys. Firstly the corridor to the apartment stinks really bad. The apartment (room 3 block 145) was clean & tidy, everything you need to cook etc, clean bedding, enough toilet rolls to last a year!! Only had bath towels, no hand towels or mat for the bathroom floor. Always had plenty of hot water. The sofa was a bit to be desired - very uncomfortable & looked dirty, I itched whenever I sat on it.Location was good & bus stop nearby so easy to get to places.At 3.30am Friday morning I was woken with the boiler coming on, the radiators in the room & hallway were red hot. At 4am I rang the mobile number & left a message & soon after the boiler was off. The boiler room had 2 fold up beds & bedding in front of the boiler.Overall both my son & myself enjoyed our holiday but I wouldn’t stay at these apartments again

We stayed at the apartments between 9-12th August. They were clean, comfortable and spacious. We were out and about for most of our stay so only used the apartment to sleep in/eat breakfast. Like previous guests have mentioned we were aware of noise from other guests coming in much later with doors banging etc. The bus service was excellent and just outside the apartments. We used a taxi to come from Waverley which cost £8 (with all the luggage) Reception staff helpful.Although towels were included (bath towel each guest) would have liked a couple of hand towels. May have been some but couldn’t find any in cupboards

The sheets were dirty and smelled of the past occupants body odour. They were replaced but we had to change all the beds ourselves. The flat smelled of cigarette smoke and some strange chemical smell like nail polish remover. The sofas were filthy. The camp bed provideld had been stapled together and broke as soon as a small child sat on it. The replacement came with a horrifyingly filthy mattress that I would not have let my dog sleep on. The whole place is like a university halls of residence with people partying til 6am. The flat is spacious - that is the only positive I can say. Terrible. Worst place I have stayed in the UK. Avoid at all costs

We are here for 5 nights. One night done. Good clean spacious apartment. Modern and well equipped. A little tired in places but excellent value for money. Perfect for a family visiting Edinburgh.

Lochend Serviced Apartments
DO NOT BOOK AT THIS PLACE.Stayed for 1 night which was a dreadful experience. Checked-in late, We were promised a “guaranteed” parking spot (£8 charge for parking) but since there were no space, we had to park on the street. I got myself the keys to the building and the apartment. The keys to the front door wouldn’t work and when called the “24 hour customer service” number, it went straight to voicemail. We somehow managed to get in and into the apartment only to find it being very filthy and smelling of cigarettes and weed. There was no heating nor hot water….again when tried to call the “24 hour customer service” number, it went straight to voicemail. The boiler itself was very unsafe according to health and safety, it was not covered and all water pipes were visible………Overall, my experience with this property was horrendous, there was no response to any of my text messages or voicemails whatsoever. The customer service was appalling. I would NEVER book this place ever again….the company only cares about money and not their guests. Their hospitality is ZERO. I would advise not to book at this place. Save yourself!
