Southend Laundry really helped us out with our washing when we were on holidays In December and did not have access to our own washing machine. At short notice we left all of our washing with the very helpful man at the laundry and by the afternoon it was all beautifully washed and folded. They were great!!!

Where this place has the dry cleaning well and truly down to a science it's offer regarding alterations services if you can even call it an alterations service leaves alot to be desired. So awhile back I brought a costume up to this dry cleaners and explained that I needed an alteration done and told the owner Jim what I needed doing.Jim couldn't even give me a straight answer never mind know where to find it.As everytime I was looking for a straight answer as to withrer or not he could do this alteration job for me all he kept on saying was Don't know don't know.Jim also kept on saying that when I said Well you don't seem so sure that you can do this alteration job maybe I should try my luck somewhere else.I gave a him chance at doing this alteration job right and blimy that was the worst mistake of my life.So rather then folllow the job through to the letter and when he had been told a hundred times or more what I neededed doing Jim would keep asking me questions like Do you want the zip kept? And There is something wrong with the zip.How did he work that out when all I needed doing was the zip at the front well and truly removed and velcro added to the front of the costume where the zip once was??Anyway because he couldn't seem to follow the simple concept of the very clear alteration that I wanted done to my costume I offered to show him how the hero I had chosen for an event not long away changed into their superform so he would at long last know what he was doing.Jim agreed to this however when I visited the place again the following day Jim wouldn't even bother to look at what I was trying to show him never mind pay any attention.I asked him to look at it as he was the one supposed to be doing the job regarding said alteration and needed to know what he was doing. But he just refused for no good reason at all and seemed to think it was more important to expect me to be lumbered with a disemboided voice on the phone that I didn't know from Adam then to ever expect this time waister maskerading as an alterations guy to do his job.By now I was totally at the end of my patience and told him Enough is enough you said you could do this alteration job but your just waisting my time and time I don't have to waste as of now I am turning this alteration job over to someone who won't mess me about.Jim finally saw what he should have noticed ages ago that I wasn't going to stand for anymore of his nonsense and said that I could pick my costume up from their place of bussness.I asked if I could pick it up the very next day but Jim said I couldn't as he would be closed on that day.Well I call total ball crud on that as the shop was well and truly open on that day which was a Saturday.Huh so much for been closed looked more like open to me.Wanting this sillness to just be over I called Jim by phone and asked him when I could pick my costume up.He replied You can pick it up on Monday morning after 10.00.Anyhow the day to pick the outfit up arrived and I went down there again to try and pick it up dead on time after 10.00 the exact time we had both agreed on.When I arrived Jim was nowhere to be seen until I asked a female worker there to fetch him.He emerged after what felt like an hour and I asked him if I could pick my costume up once and for all as we had agreed.Jim despite the fact of what we had agreed on then told me to my face that he had to pick it up from another place and bring it back to his shop just so I could pick it up.And to irritate me even more despite Jim telling me beforehand that I could pick my outfit up after 10.00 Monday morning now because of his back and forth unnesseary stuff and nonsense it took me till nealy 14.00 in the afternoon just to get my costume back from that silly place. In conclusion where this place really does a great and grand job where dry cleaning is concerned I don't see the point of Jim and co having the option or optional choice of alterations when last I checked Jim and co carn't follow a simple alteration plan worth a damn.

Great service and quick. Service wash was expensive for what it was, but this is a dry cleaners, not a launderette. Saved my bacon when I didn't have a washing machine for a week.
