Dan Meek, Stone Carver

Daniel Meek agreed to make and install the headstone for the grave of my brother in Buxhall parish churchyard. He completed the work in December 2020. He has done a very fine job, and my brother's widow and their children also appreciate greatly what Mr Meek has done.Dr Lars Mosesson

Top quality hand carved craftmanship from a Good man

We are delighted with Dans’ work, he was most accommodating. The millstone sign pleases us come rain or shine, it is even better than we had imagined.

Daniel did an excellent job for us, carving names and dates on blocks of stone which we wanted reincorporated into a flint wall being rebuilt. He was easy to contact and understood immediately exactly what we wanted. The design was emailed to us to confirm this. We were on a tight time-schedule but Daniel made sure that the work was completed to meet our deadline. We were delighted with his work.

Dan’s beautiful inscription could not have been more perfect and was exactly what I had hoped for. He was particularly kind and supportive in helping me deal with Nottingham’s very officious cemetery officials who made the whole process exceptionally traumatic after the death of my mother. I highly recommend Dan as a professional and expert stone carver.

We chose Dan after searching for a carver who would produce a unique and different tombstone for our stillborn daughter. He was quick to respond upon being contacted and worked with us over several months to refine the inscription, carving and type of stone. He was always open to suggestion and refinement but good at guiding what was possible in the limits of space and technical possibility. We were keen to have the heraldic badge of the badger with the palm leaf, which has been beautifully reproduced. He was marvellous working with the cemetary to understand their regulations and assisting with the application for the permit. Very early on we mentioned a possible deadline, knowing that these things are always flexible. Despite it being a little challenging he was able, to our slight amazement to install it in time for this. He was a real joy to work with and clearly a craftsmen of ability who cares as to the quality of his work. One only has to look to see the beauty and skill in his other commissions. I genuinely could not recommend more highly.
