Upper Rectory Farm Cottages

My stay at Upper Rectory Farm Cottages in Appleby Magna was a truly delightful experience. The tranquility of the surroundings was captivating, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere that was refreshing. The morning views were particularly striking, offering an enchanting start to the day. Every moment at this cottage felt like a soothing retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is a place I would heartily recommend for those seeking a restful escape in a charming, rural setting.

We had a wonderful time at these cottages. Super peaceful and well-appointed. The host, Jean, couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you Jean, for the tasty homemade flapjacks and warm welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were extremely well appointed and comfortable. All rooms being en suite meant every one was comfortable. The lounge was spacious and comfortable too. We loved sitting outside, having a few pre dinner drinks. Its wonderfully quiet with plenty of space to walk and for the children to play x

I'm reluctant to review this since I might need this cottage again.. On the other hand, I do wish the owners the best of luck so..Up a slight hill in the middle of the country side just outside Appleby Magna sits a nicely refurbished old farm and barns. They have been divided into cottages and this has been really well done. I had Byre cottage which was ample space for myself.There's a big living room with soft couches. Good sized open kitchen with nice appliances. (washer/dryers are in a seperate room and shared between the cottages. Quality German appliances though) Bedroom with a little en-suite which did fit my 2 metre tall self even under the shower.Enough radiators in all rooms to keep the place as toasty as you could want it on a cold november night. Cottage was also really, really clean!Owner Jean was really helpful and friendly and she does indeed bake a very good flapjack.Be aware that the next cottage's wall can let some sound trough. If you're quiet at night you can hear next door's TV. Can't say it bothered me. Also, the lights in the bathroom are on a motion detector which is great for energy saving. But it doesn't quite reach the shower so if you shower longer than two minutes you need to wave a limb over the shower door.Next time I'm in the area on business I will definitely see if there's a cottage available here. For me it has been a comfy home away from home for almost three weeks!

Excellent place for reunion parties families to stay - facilities excellent.Plenty to explore in surrounding areas from Bosworth Field, National Arboretum and Shugborough Hall amongst a number of other places

Pro: peaceful, looks amazing. Plenty of room to do things. Fully kitted out kitchens. Being surrounded by a field was pretty cool.Owner is lovely can't say I seen any other staff. Clean as a whistle.Con: Rubbish WiFi, out dated entertainment system.Bord games are about as much excitement as the place offers. Although I wasn't exactly expecting much in the form of electronics.Laundry room felt pointless, made more sense to just put a iron in each building instead of 3 in one very hot room.local taxis sees this property as a cash cow, taxi service can send 2 taxis to the property in 5 minutes but at the starting rate of £25 each taxi. So don't plan on going to the local pub without a designated driver.

Such an amazing place to stay so peaceful I was so chilled out one of best weekend breaks I've had great for celebrating occasions as a family.

We stayed at the cottages with a group of girls for the weekend and we had a fantastic time. The cottages were well equipped and had everything we needed for the weekend. Jean was extremely helpful and her flapjacks were absolutely amazing!We would highly recommend this cottage and would love to stay here again.
