What a lovely place to take a stroll. Canterbury has so many lovely walks, you cant help but fall in love with the place. This area is a must visit. But then the whole of Canterbury is! It certainly is such a beautiful place. Very busy with young students and tourists in the summer. Seem to have quite a lot of French tourists too, as well as school trips. Westgate Gardens is lovely to sit and watch the world go by without the hustle and bustle of the shops and people. Even better, take a pleasure trip and cruise along in one of the small boats. Its well worth it. So pretty and peaceful, gorgeous in the summer on a lovely day.

Very beautiful place. It would be nicer if the weather is better. Will come back again in summer

Beautiful little park at the edge of Canterbury old town. Bright flowers and green grass welcomes you to this fairytale town. It gets busy over the weekend. But worth planning a day trip here from London. It’s just 1h away.

The perfect introduction to amazing Canterbury. Beautiful place for a stroll by the river. There are spots for sitting and enjoying the view while you grab some snacks to escape from the pressures of the day. Don't hesitate to go there if you have the chance, you won't regret it.

Lovely gardens along the banks of the crystal clear River Stour, one of only two hundred chalk rivers and streams in the World, 85% of which are in the England. If you look carefully, you may see trout, eels and pike in the waters. There are also fragments of the old city walls in the gardens and a wonderful view of Westgate Towers (see the attached photos) and a herb garden.

This is a very nice and well planned area of Canterbury. Many towns and cities have rivers passing through them but many County Councils rarely make an attraction of them - probably due to cost. However, Canterbury County Council have made a great tourist attraction of their river and it's certainly paid off as it looks outstanding! The river features Gondola boat rides like you see in Venice, very colourful flower borders, ornate walls and nearby buildings, benches for sitting and eating, herb gardens with information on each herb, bridges, well kept grass areas and trees. It's generally a VERY nice place to be, so a big WELL DONE to Canterbury County Council!Currently, I would say Canterbury is the ONLY city or town in Kent that has content worthy of a visit. Well, apart from the National Trust, Battle Abbey, Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral buildings! Everywhere else I visited seemed a bit of a dump with bad planning.
