We live nearby and this is our usual place. Food has been brilliant recently. In a world where inflation has pushed up prices and people are cutting corners everywhere, Hector has managed to strike that perfect balance of a proper Sunday Roast at a competitive price with no compromise on quality and taste. Well done, and please keep it up.

Very cosy and cute pub.Service super friendly and helpful. Fast also.Lovely and warm inside.Chips were good but could have been bigger portion. Halloumi fries were nice.Hot choc was nice but would have been good with cream and marsh mallows.Atmosphere was very nice inside with mixed crowd, families, friends and a guy doing live music.Very decent pub.

Really nice welcome and great service. We needed an early and quick dinner as we were heading off to a light show at the Botanics in Edinburgh and that request was accommodated. Next time we’ll have a more leisurely dinner as it’s a lovely bar and great menu selection.

Excellent menu and great food. The selection of pies were amazing. I recommend the steak and ale pie. It's been a good few years since I last visited and I felt this time the place looked a little run down. The chair legs weren't very stable and the bathroom was very cold and looked worn and tired.The service was great.

I was visiting Edinburgh for a few days and this place came up. I wasn't expecting such a great experience especially with the staff. They were pleasant and friendly, extremely helpful, the service was fantastic and they advised on local ciders to drink and I loved it. They were also helpful with information on places to visit so I could enjoy Edinburgh.I had boneless chicken wings I believe and they were fantastic. I'll definitely visit again

Had a fantastic time in Hectors! Despite be really busy the Hostess/manager really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She handled the issues with our food promptly and professionally. Will definitely be back !

We had a lovely drink at the bar and dinner at a table yesterday evening for our first night in Edinburgh. Great atmosphere, good beer, delicious traditional food with a twist (vegan and vegetarian options available) and friendly welcoming service. Nathan, our waiter, was lovely ! Definitely recommend this place. We may even be back during our stay !✨

We had Christmas dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely food, a really nice ambiance, and exceptionally kind service. Very accommodating too!
