Unite Students - Newgate Court

Unite do not care about the students in their halls. Staff allowed covid marshals to enter my flat while isolating with covid, ignore multiple complaints and now are refusing to reimburse students affected by covid.Unite is a greedy company, give your business elsewhere.

The people down at the desk are absolutely lovely and are always around to help you whenever you need it - I was stuck out my room at 3am and the man at the desk helped me out as soon as possible to let me back in.The rooms and kitchens are so modern, and the surrounding area is not loud at all. Blackout curtains and pretty sound proof windows make it a really good place to live and sleep too. The facilities on offer are top class, a nice gym, cinema room looks good (I’ve yet to try it but people have reported it’s amazing) and the games area is always busy with people.The location of the accommodation is amazing too, so close to social life and the Uni’s.We have had a slight issue with the heat in our flat, it’s too warm permanently, but to credit the staff at Newgate they have done all that they can do and responded to our maintenance requests on the same day they were submitted.I highly recommend this Accommodation!

*Read the whole review*Way better than what i was expecting. The staff here are always helpful and supportive. The building is brand new and the rooms and common areas are amazing. The location is the best thag you can get. Bit pricey but in my opinion it's worth it.After 3 months of staying here i can say that some very disappointing things have happened. There was an issue with the management of the building accusing and charging all the residents of my flat for some damages in the kitchen when in fact two of my flatmates have witnessed those damages being cause by the housekeeper. Even when we tried to explain what happened they just denied it and charged our accounts the amount of 140 pounds for an electric stove which then later became 165 pounds for no reason. This kind of thing in my opinion is just the usual scam by landlords to just keep a piece of the deposit, anyway i'm just really disappointed in how the management team handles these situations and how they treat their residents. Even though the building itself is fine i will NOT be booking again next year with them.

Very bad maintenance through the building. The main entrance doors never function well and the lifts were always broke down. How many incident had happen with people knocked on the door cause the main entrance door is broke. There is one time I’m in the lift and the lift straight falls from third floor to basement?! The key sensor to each door is retarded and most of the time can’t sense your key.

I stayed one month in this place and I was so happy there. The rooms were perfect and the staff so friendly. I want to name one girl whose name is Ambar. She was so nice with me.Just remember to the housekeeping cleans the halls near the lifts. They were dirty. We cleaned our kitchen but some of the students don't do it. They should check the kitchen everyday.I will come again anyway

Gym had broken machines for months, when I opened tickets they were just closed with no updates. The lift dropped with me in it then was broken for at least 1/3 of the tenancy, which made moving out exceptionally hard. Often food left in the lifts. My girlfriend had an insect infestation and the staff were very unhelpful. The build quality of the accommodation is great but the rooms are small and felt quite dark due to the lack of natural light. Have heard quite a few bad things about Unite Students recently.

One of my friends had lived here for 9 months. It's managed by private owners for Newcastle University mainly. There were common rooms to use, before the lockdown obviously. We used to watch movies here, play snookers, have fun. Although a booking is needed prior, it was easy to get one. However, even the gatherings have become rare or impossible because of the virus. Nevertheless, this is a super good place for students. Miss coming here.

Very good student residence, extremely well located, in the city center of Newcastle, close to shops, restaurants, shopping centres, and only 15min walk from Northumbria Uni. Residence very clean, with nice commun areas, modern rooms and large kitchens. Perfect and secure place to live as a student.

Paid full for classic en-suite. Got there and the room was half the size of the picture advertised. Complained and they said sometimes the beds in a different place. Not stupid. No way the room is the same. Over priced tiny tiny room
