The Royal Oak
The hotel is in a picture perfect setting. The dining areas are beautiful and the staff happy to help with any requests. We were able to move our reservation to a garden table. The food was delicious (recommend butternut squash salad) and staff friendly throughout.We had an issue with the heating (constantly on) in our room which the staff helped with as much as able but these things happen and it didn’t spoil our trip.

This is a beautiful countryside pub with really great food on offer. We have eaten here more than once and have always been sat in the orangery, which is a bright and airy place to sit with a nice view of the open kitchen. The staff all seem really nice and the service we received was very good. It was slightly slow, but none of us were in a rush and it was a very nice place to sit while we waited anyway. The food is served in good portion sizes, and we think it is well worth the price charged. We have been before and will definitely come again.

Nice friendly staff, but the food was a disappointment, especially considering the price. Ordered the roast and, although it looked lovely, the potatoes were completely dried out and the Yorkshire pudding wasn’t much better. The rest was fine, but not what you’d expect for 25 pounds.

We were invited here for a meal with friends on Saturday evening (25th November). We had never been here before and so we were looking forward to our meal. First impressions were that it was a lovely venue, service was great and the food was amazing, if a little pricey. However, as the evening progressed, a table next to us began ‘expanding’ and the group sitting around it became increasingly noisy, excessively so. At this point we decided to leave and pay our bill. We complained about the noise and refused to pay the service charge because this had ruined an otherwise lovely evening. What came next would’ve been funny if it hadn’t been so shocking. The manager told us that these people were entitled to be a loud as they want to be! This is most definitely not how to deal with a complaint, we were then made to feel like the people spending the most money were entitled to ride roughshod over the rest of us! We’re paying a premium on the cost of a meal here and so you expect a nice environment and to have any complaints taken seriously. A business is judged on how it handles complaints and this was not how to deal with it. We won’t be going back!

Lovely clean and beautiful place, well stocked bar. Kitchen closes in the afternoon so be aware if trying to have a late lunch or afternoon snack. Will definitely be coming back for a meal soon though. Did not see the hotel side of things so can’t comment on that.

We booked this place for a one night stay just before we started a road trip to the UK from Portugal. So very glad we did as it is a lovely pub/ hotel with nice rooms and excellent service. The food was fantastic and much better than some of the reviews on Google suggest. We were recommended several dishes by the restaurant manager and none of them disappointed. Even the pizza we had for lunch was first class and one of the best we’d had….ever!! Highly recommended!

Poor service, poor food but friendly staff.The staff clearly struggled and rushed our meal which ruined our experience.The food was very sub-par and the staff didn’t ask which flavour of ice cream people who had opted for the selection of ice cream on the set menu and were simply given vanilla. Given this included children, and staff had mentioned a range of flavours early in, it was quite disappointing.

Overpriced and pretentious. Expecting a lot better in quality and taste for the price we paid. A lump of pate thrown on some bread does not constitute £10!

We booked for my mothers ninetieth birthday and had a small private room. The food was delicious and the waiting staff were super kind and attentive.Thank Royal Oak for a very special day.

Went for a Sunday lunch with friends. Definitely more restaurabt than pub, but very nice. We went there ages ago when the bar and dining experience was quite different, whereas now, the dining area has been massively extended out the back with easy access to the lovely garden. The roast pork belly was lovely. Not the cheapest Sunday lunch around buy worth it
