The Hare & Hounds Country Pub
Went today for Sunday lunch, we were told roast of the day was beef. There was a sign behind the bar saying, no steak pies. My husband and I thought, that’s not good as we were going to have pie. We looked through the menu and settled on slow roast beef, not our usual choice as we like our beef pink. When it came we had one slice of dry beef you could sole your shoes with. I said this beef is tough can I have chicken instead? One of our party had chicken and it looked good. She said that she would have a word with the chef. Took my plate with her. Came back with my plate and said chef can cook me a chicken breast but it would take time or he could slice me some pink beef and heat up in gravy. As the rest of our group had nearly finished I said I would have the beef. She came back with the beef which looked lovely and moist. I thought yumm but it was still tough just not dry. The rest of my meal by this time was stone cold. They had not given me fresh potatoes and veg. I ate it as I was hungry. No one came back to ask if things were okay or if we would like dessert. I will never go back.

The Hare & Hounds Country Pub
The Pub is very nice as are the Timothy Taylor's on Pump. It's also very welcoming to Dogs and staff are effective and friendly. However, the outside needs a bit or a tidy up at the rear and the stairs and carpets leading to the rooms need to be cleaned and/or new carpets. The rooms are small for the money being charged. Dinner was Average and the Veg Chilli lacks flavour and ingredients. This place has potential that is not yet unlocked

We ventured here after a Sunday explore around the local area and enjoyed a lovely meal in the warmth after getting soggy.A beautiful log burning fire greets you and warms the soul. It was very busy when we arrived, which can only be a good sign and boast of a places reputation. We were recommended a visit here by the owner of our local buttie shop and I am certainly glad we gave it a try, the food was tasty and I loved the magical trinkets on display all around the pub. Especially as an avid Alice in Wonderland lover ❤️I was pretty shocked to have paid the exact same price as I had paid the weekend before in central London for two pints of beer !!! Some serious inflation on that, more than I pay in any pub in my hometown !The pies were what we were most excited to try and I was a touch disappointed. What was delivered to our table I would say didn’t look quite as impressive as what is advertised on the website. But it was very delicious and we left full of goodness and a slightly stung wallet. Would probably visit again for food when next in the area (probably stick to tap water in the future tho)

We went on the off chance as a walk in and the staff were so accommodating for my friend and nervous rescue dog. They even managed to put us somewhere quiet to help put my dog at ease.Food was gorgeous, huge portions and well worth the price. Location is second to none with stunning views all around. Lovely red wine. Staff were really friendly. This place is a stunning cosy little gem. Can't wait to come back and stay the night. Thanks for making our day x

To be honest, although it is in a great location, we found our time here to be very disappointing. In terms of service, the older members of staff were friendly enough, but the younger ones weren't so much so. I think a welcoming smile would be a good start to a customer experience. We thought the food was average, and the portions weren't great. My partner's food was barely warm, her amount of mashed potatoes was very small and there was no gravy other than on her potatoes. The amount of chicken on my plate wasn't enough and our soft drinks were flat.Bearing in mind the price of £15.50 for a roast, the levels for food and service need to be much higher, in our opinion, when compared with other places we've visited. This review is in no way intended to be vindictive or gratuitous, it's just based on our honest opinion.Thanks.I'm not sure if anybody reading my review can see the response from this eatery, to my comments.1. Certain things should be a given, when eating out. It's really simple. Food should be at an appropriate temperature and drinks should not be flat, especially when charging such prices. A customer shouldn't need to point this out. The onus is on the staff who are prepping and serving.2. Based on other responses to feedback on this place, when that feedback hasn't been great, it would be best to take the points raised on board, and take the appropriate action to rectify any shortfall or discrepancy, instead of being dismissive, passively aggressive and defensive. Nobody likes negative criticism, I understand that, but it's there for the benefit of customers and businesses, the latter only if responded to proactively and with humility.Cheers.

We had been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing the amazing pictures of the meals on Facebook but we ended up a little underwhelmed.I had the fish and chips and my wife had a chicken roast dinner. My chips were absolutely amazing, probably the best I've ever had but the fish was very thin and scrawnyand a little bit over cooked. My wife said her chicken was a bit dry, and the portions of potatoes and vegetables were a bit stingy.I really wanted to try a beer but was put off by the silly prices so we had a coffee instead which we regretted as it tasted just like warm milk.Would have said something about the coffee before we left but there was no one available to talk to.

Absolute beauty of a spot, views to die for, food was beyond excellent. Service spot on, staff/owners can't do enough for you. One of the best if not the best meals out we have had and a top pint to accompany it. Will definitely be back and can't recommend highly enough.
