After being seated and given menus, at a table that hadn't been cleared, we waited so long for someone to come and take our order (and clean the table) that we gave up and left . I don't think anyone even noticed. We passed by again a little while later and our menus were still on the table along with all the debris from the previous customers.

What a lovely find on a Sunday afternoon. Great prices had all day breakfast £11 good quality bacon and sausages.£3 latte.Very clean and staff so lovely and welcoming.Highly recommended

Popped in for a quick bite and beverage whilst in the highstreet. Busy staff running a takeaway and eat in service, a little confusing as to how/where to order as they have different tills and ordering processes going on. The cafe itself is a little plain and perhaps in need of a lick of paint, and the cleanliness was below par - lots of food on the floor and unwiped tables. The friendly waitress did however promptly offer to wipe my table upon taking my order. Service was fast and the coffee to a good standard. An okay cafe but I expected higher given the number of similar joints on Leigh highstreet and local competition.

The senior staff/managers here are incredibly rude. We ordered a pot of tea for two and we were given the wrong sized cups. There was not enough tea in the pot to fill one cup. When I questioned this and asked for more tea I was told I cannot control the way you pour tea" how would I know the cups were wrong until pouring!I asked to not be charged as we were not given the right order. I was told I had to pay as I had been given the pot of tea. The manager was so incredibly rude and had no customer service skills. Really awful service spend your money in other places in the broadway!"

It was such a great café to stop at and enjoy a very tasty, fluffy dessert in the sun. I sat outside and enjoyed the world passing by, but seeing the sea in the distance also - so, so beautiful. The staff were ever so lovely, and attentive at all times. I was well looked after and no request was too big, despite being so busy. As for the pancakes... well, I cannot praise them enough, they were just perfect, fully, plenty, sweet, and with great topics. I would definitely recommend.

Impeccable food, service from staff is amazing! Serves breakfast until 3pm. Big selection of food and drink for all including vegetarians. Couldn’t recommend this place more! Amazing!

Shocking filthy toilet accessed through an unprofessional kitchenThis is the second time I've eaten at Hippo Cafe. But the first time that I've used the toilet. I wish I hadnt... It was a hell of a shock.The food was good, and the staff were ok... However the toilet was disgraceful.You have to walk through the kitchen to get to a filthy outside toilet. which resembled a Workman's outside lav of the 70s.What's worse is it was filthy dirty, not only the floor, but also, the walls.There was a dirty rusty bin, the door was a l broken with holes big enough toLook through. I didn’t want to touch anything which is a real worry when you consider that the staff that are serving your food are using this toilet which is filthy dirty,The kitchen did not look professional more like a greasy spoon. I came back to my table literally with my mouth open with shock.What you see in the walk to the toilet out the back is totally mismatched to the image you see at the front.If I had not used the toilet, I most definitely would’ve gone back again, but after going out the back there is no way I’d ever eat here again.
