Honestly, don't waste your money at this hostel. My room smelt like a 15 year olds sweaty gym clothes had been left unwashed for a week and no matter how long you left the window opened, it didn't air out. The window panes also had gaps, so the noise from outside carried inside, so sleeping was nearly impossible until the early hours of the morning. That is if you could get comfortable on the mattresses where the springs jab you in your ribs every time you rolled over. Just don't bother is my advice. Spend a bit extra at the YHA or other hostels in the area.

Not worth it. The toilets and bathrooms were gross, and the kitchen was so disgusting. The rooms were ok but the air was awful and the beds were not comfy. Pretty sure the staff were smoking weed. Only good thing is that is was cheap and close to town.

YOU WILL REGRET COMING HERE.My boyfriend and I decided to spend a couple of days in Brighton and wanted some cheap accommodation, so we chose the Grapevine Hostel as the location seemed convenient; this was by far the worst decision I have ever made. The staff were very rude and unwelcoming from the outset. The room is very basic and completely overpriced for what it is.The ceilings are very low and my 6 3 boyfriend had to stoop the whole time while in the room. The curtains are essentially tissue paper and do nothing to block out light

Cheap and cheerless...definitely one of the cheaper places I have seen around but my friend and I were both happy with our twin room. Plumbing made a weird noise whenever used, doors slammed way too easily (I must have slammed the door so many times because of those overactive closers), but you get what you pay for.If you aren't looking for the Ritz and you intend to spend most of your time out of the room except when you are sleeping, why worry about how beautiful the place is?It had a bed, it had a (passably clean) tiny toilet, it had a kitchen (no comment, didn't look or use it), it had a bathroom with electric shower (plenty of space for a shower cubicle, but they chose not to)...and you can see the sea from outside...beggars can't be choosers.Yes, the staff were a little bit standoffish, but they aren't exactly being paid top rate so people should quit complaining and go elsewhere if they want excellent service...me, I needed them twice, at check in and check out, so I didn't care.

It is located in the centre of Brighton nearby the beach. The street in front of my room was not too busy (Middle St).It is minimalistic, but you can use a communal room and kitchen. My room was clean, but had a fusty smell and you couldn't air it well. The bathrooms are okay. The staff is nice. In general adequate for a cheap stay over night.

What can i say! Came up with bites and a red rash when staying in the room for about 4 hours. Me and my friends couldnt stay because of this. We went to reception that night and the guy at the reception was very apologetic and said the manager will give the refund the next day when he is in. We said it must of been bed bugs because of the look of bites. Next day manager refused refund! very defensive and rude about it. Didnt believe my story. Lock on door was falling off and toilet was running all the time as well but because we didnt say about this (Because this a more vaild reason than my health) he might of given the refund? DONT STAY!

This is a very basic hostel. The kitchen/lounge is not bad, but it's underground and not very clean. You have to leave a 20 pound per person deposit for the room, and another 10 pound deposit if you want to rent a set of crockery to eat in the kitchen. Our room was on the 4th floor and the bathroom was on the 1st (bathrooms were clean and well equipped). The beds are not the best, but there was room for our luggage. The hostel it's in a perfect location, on the seafront and close to the center.

Do not go to this hostel if you want a clean, quiet, and any type of facilities. Grubby, no hot water in shower no flushing toilet and no cold water from the sink. I went out and bought my own bedding and towels. This place is basic but it does not even meet the minimum requirements! You get better facilities in the jungle of Borneo. Read the reviews before booking I gave them the benefit of the doubt but big mistake on my part. I gave it 1 star as the room had a view to the sea. Otherwise no star.

I SWEAR TO GOD DO NOT STAY HERE!You will regret it!!!!As a female I have never felt as uncomfortable and unsafe as I felt here. There was hairs in my bed and blood stains on the sheets, the room was dirty, extremely dusty and there was bugs everywhere.THE BATHROOM WAS THE WORST IVE EVER SEEN IN ALL MY YEARS OF TRAVELING, hasn't been cleaned since the 80's by the look of it the smell is revolting, mould and just dam right dirty. Not to mention the staff were creepy and rude. It looks nothing like the photos I felt unsafe just being there. Do yourself a favour and chuck in a couple pounds more for somewhere better

Do NOT choose this hostel !Because:-If u or somebody leave something dirty [plate, cutlery, glass etc...] in the kitchen... (and it does not matter, that you use own stuff, u not use the common kitchen equipments) the kitchen will be closed for 1-2 days.No one interested that you hungry, and all your food have in the kitchen (in lockable cabinets or the frige....)-Every time be sure to check, that how much you are paying. The boss (Woman) receptionist, sometime she likes steal more extra money from the quests. (In general £20)-Noisi-Dirty-No one interested in you problems...(Aaaand sometimes homeless people have stayed here... with really poor personal hygiene )This one is primitive...Rather go to the Hostel Point, same price and more better...
