Very pleased to be able to apply an edit to my rant below! Now have spotted the 'new' note applied to Stoke.gov.uk website (where can I take my rubbish? / 'tip opening times'), which now clearly states that public access to the site stops 15 minutes before closing time (or words to that effect). I say 'new' because this was not visible to my eye prior to my rant, and I really did look!! If, as it appears, 'someone / somewhere' has reacted to a complaint. I say 'well done to them' and 'thankyou'. Under the conditions now clearly advertised on the website I would have no complaint if I turned up at 4.15pm, to be refused access; it would be my fault. I do hope the signage at the site entrance now also conveys the same message.. I've not been back to see. Nice one Stoke.gov.uk! Very pleased to see that an issue has been resolved.Felt v sorry for bloke I saw today, turned away at 4.15pm, when entry gate closed and only those already on-site allowed out. To me closes to public at 4.30pm' means 'public acess up to 4.30pm'. Would do in MY job anyway! Fact that bloke closing gate stood right next to sign which said '4.30pm' rubbed salt into wound.. and the fact when queried as we left

2 trips today. First was perfect, even got help from one on staff. 2nd trip was asked to move my car and I pointed to a bay I was going to go in. At this point the staff were insulting me by making pointing gestures to each other obviously unaware I was watching. So would have given 5 for first visit. But rude staff gets a 1 star for the second visit .

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who are always so helpful, I came to the tip yesterday and it was extremely busy but the staff handled it with such amazing teamwork! All the best for 2023

Well, I’ve been bringing my stuff to this tip for years, I always had a small car before, roughly a year ago I’ve changed to a small van, and today one of the staff members(seemed very smart..) asked me for ID to prove my address, because apparently if you don’t live nearby, you can’t bring stuff here in a van...I asked him “since when?” He said “it’s always been like that”.Well it’s obviously a lie, because I’ve never been asked for ID before, and seen loads of other small vans as well coming here...so if he’d said to me that “this is the rule from NOW”, I would have said “all right, fair enough, I’ll go somewhere else”, but lying to people’s face is a bit harsh, isn’t it?

This recycling centre is very well organised, the staff are super helpful & I've never come across any issues here.

Went down on Sunday to tip some rubble & setees. There was a gentleman there named Shaun. Couldn't help enough. Helped me unload my setee & advised of the charges clearly to tip the rubble. I mixed up a couple of the bags but he didn't get high rate just helped me to sort it out & got me on my way. Thank you for the service.

I've downsized to a bungalow as i have arthritis etc and have made several trips to this tip. I have to say the lads and young lady are lovely here. But I'd like to say a big thank you to Lee, he always helps me, nothing's never to much trouble. Only this morning he emptied my boot for me, bless him he's an absolute diamond.

After my visit to Federation Road site today to try and dispose of old plastic windows and glass in a proper manner. I stopped and went to speak with the Skip controller prior to attempting to tip. I invited him to come and give me his opinion and what to do. He confirmed there would be a charge for the glass which I would be prepared to pay for. The plastics were described as too much. I did read the web site prior to loading and the description was in my opinion less that 1 meter cube. Which It stated on the web site. However after consultation with the superior skip technician it was concluded that he would not allow me to dispose of the said goods. I do have to say the skip controller was of good attitude along with the skip technician.However I can not understand why they would not accept any amount whatsoever. I could have chopped the frames up and taken them in smaller amounts. I did attend the same tip 2 weeks ago and a lady was asking what we had and directing where to go. What did surprise me was she was wearing open toed slip on sandals nowhere near good enough on a site like that. The funny part was I did make reference to them and she did not know what to say.So overall you do get some rules that change to suit the site. I did think that because I was up front and asked them to check my load, that a small amount would have been accepted. Well done to the guy I spoke too first your approach was good. I do hope you read this as you will know who you are.
