Never normally leave reviews but spent a lot of money here getting my Brompton serviced including the replacement of both wheels. The front wheel was only tightened hand tight and almost fell off after 2 weeks of light short riding, I then started to feel a bad buckle on the new bad wheel, I assumed I had hit a bad pot hole or a heavy bang on the cobbles, but a couple of months later went to see if I could straighten the wheel and found the back wheel was not put on tight or straight either. See the gap on the attached picture between the nut the gear chain goes into and the taper washer it’s supposed to fit into. I fixed it and the buckle/wobble has nearly disappeared, but I guess riding it for a good few months didn’t help. Disappointing won’t use these guys again.TLDR in response to below... spent nearly £500 getting my bike serviced and new parts, I suspect the wheels were only put on hand tight/not correctly. Front wheel almost fell of after 2 weeks, back wheel developed a bad buckle I didn't put 2 + 2 together and 6 months later went to look at the buckle and found out the back wheel was not attached correctly either, took a pic... wasn't quite right for me hence the reply to your reply...You did reach out to me, but I am capable of tightening a wheel so no need to follow up, you could have just accepted that it may have been a mistake (as per the conversation we had) and left it there, but you responded... and now so have I.I'm sure this was a one off and I'm sure now they have this review they may double and triple check the work they do. Otherwise was a reasonable interaction and kept me informed during the delays while waiting for the hard to get parts from Brompton!

Such a helpful shop. I came up for a week to stay with family and was looking to rent a road bike and get out of the city. Biketrax set me up with a gorgeous Cinelli Palio and were nothing but excellent throughout the whole process. Big recommend!

I hired a bike here last year and did the same again this year as the bikes are great and the staff friendly. Cycling is a great way of seeing the wider city, but unfortunately Edinburgh no longer has a bike hire scheme and this is one of only a few places that hires. The price is expensive but I understand they have to make a profit. The website is pants and the bike hire process a little complex involving deposits and signing online forms - all slightly too much for my pea sized brain. But i’ll definitely be back next year - thanks Biketrax!

Biketrax is the best place to rent a cycle in Edinburgh!!I've rented from them numerous times over 10+ years and done many miles both in town and in The Highlands and never had a single problem.Luke the owner, the mechanics and the entire staff are fabulous and knowledgeable and friendly.I live in NYC and have frequented dozens of bike stores for buying and repairs as well as hiring bikes for visitors, and I wish Luke would franchise to NYC!Stop your cycle search and come to Biketrax.

Over priced went in to get a rim rebuild quoted me £133 even though I’d already brought the rim so would it worked on more then I paid for them in the first place. Then offered to charge me £26 for 2 meters of rim tape. That’s when I thought no way.Anyhow got the rim rebuilt in a day for £56 with tape from another shop,Maybe good at renting bikes but wouldn’t consider them for servicing just trying to rip people off.the wheel was less than 2 months old so the spokes could be reused. also you didn't quote any other work because I only brought the rim and wheel in not the bike. what I am saying is the truth. clearly from your other review you are over priced and taking advantage of people in need!

These guys are fantastic, especially Luke. Great customer service and great bikes. I was in Edinburgh just for the weekend and wanted a reasonable bike to explore. They have more bike options and sizes than on the website, so contact them. The Saracen Levarg gravel bike was perfect for cruising along canal towpaths, cobbled streets or dirt tracks. So much fun. And if you decide to buy a bike, they'll take 2 days hire off the price. The shop is right at the end of the Union Canal - which leads to Falkirk Wheel (50km/34 mi) a great flat traffic-free ride.

The staff are super friendly. I brought my bike in without an app and they did a quick assessment, gave me tips. I was able to get the tires inflated for easier transport home before coming back for the proper appointment for a more thorough check and tweaks.

Had my Bike fixed by Mackenzie here and he was brilliant and did a fantastic job! I'm quite skeptical of mechanics and whatnot so I listed my main issue when getting it sorted but had 5-6 problems I'd mentally taken note of (intentionally didn't say they were issues). Mackenzie listed and fixed everything on my mental list too! very honest and great work. Will definitely go back although my bike is so smooth now it'll probably be years till I need anything fixed again!Thank you Mackenzie :)Arron

The most helpful bike shop I've ever been in. Went in just for advice and 3 members of staff spent 15 minutes helping me out with all my questions. There are far closer bike shops to where I live but I'd happily make the extra effort to return to Biketrax.

Impeccable service from this company. Friendly and knowledgeable staff where nothing seems too much trouble. I recently bought a Mirider bike from here, and although a slight mechanical issue arose, they quickly attended to the problem and immediately got me back on the road. It serves to show why buying from a store such as this with great personal service, rather than buying online is important for something like a bike.Incidentally, prior to my purchase, I had no connection with Biketrax.Thanks guys.George.
