Durham Park & Ride Sniperley

Love a good P & R, and this one is good, pop the amount of passengers fiding, pay your money and off you go. Well, the car was still there when we returned, the bus rides were OK if a tad crowded - 1030 Monday.Hopefully you don't get the miserable driver we had, being a holiday visitor I politely asked him if we waited for the return service in the same place as he dropped us off but all I got was over there" and a finger pointing to exactly opposite the stand. Having wandered round on our return and not finding a bus stand I asked a waiting local at the drop off stand as to where we should go

It makes having to visit the hospital an easier task as you don't have to fight for an overpriced car parking space. It is pleasant and the buses run quite regularly.

Really handy £2 for a return ticket, free parking, they run regularly too.

Updated review.This service used to be really good. Unfortunately since the demise of the Scarlet Band bus service and with Central taxis taking over it's shocking.First bus of the day is regularly late for commuters, sometimes doesn't turn up at all. The schedule of one every 15 minutes can't be worked out because drivers leave early or arrive late.What response do you get for contacting Durham Council? A generic reply that couldn't care less.If you want to use this, plan to be early because if you're on time you'll probably be late. Or just park in Durham, it's more advisable even though it's more expensive.

It is an easy place to park to get to durham and back for £2 but remember it close at 7. 30pm

I've used Durham Park & Ride on numerous occasions, never had any difficulty finding space to park. The buses into the city are frequent, so no long wait and the drop off/pick up points in the city are very convenient. If your visiting Durham by car use the Park & Ride.

Very well organised on the Saturday for transporting many people to the city centre for the Durham Miners Gala. Staff very helpful

Impossible to find out the bus route on line to find out which P & R car park is the best to get to the Riverside. When I have used P & R in the past once i was in the city, I found it difficult to find which bus stops to go wait at (As no clear signs on bus stops) to get the actual P & R bus back to the correct car park. Further other bus drivers, locals and the Tourist info did not seem to know either. Ended up at three different bus stops before getting correct bus back. Then the bus drivers in two instances were grumpy and unhelpful. As I have walking difficulties it put me off using this service. Today I am trying to find out which car park to get to the Riverside so I do not have to walk too far, but the website does not give sufficient information.

Its a cheap and cheerful alternative to all day parking in the city center if you're working but the timetable pre 8am is pointless, busses turn up when they feel like it or not at all in some instances which is frustrating when you've made the effort to be there for an early bus. Most of the other drivers are apologetic enough but its not their fault. Its not good enough arriving for the 7.20am bus and having to wait till nearly 8am because of 2 no shows.
